Getting started with Lunatic Rave

Ok here is what I did to install the program.

Go to the website and download the game, do this in three parts:

1) (The game),
http://www.lunatic-rave.com/LRO070303.zip

2) (The update),
http://www.lunatic-rave.com/LRO070303_update.zip

3) (Overwrite this in your LR Directory LATER),
http://www.lunatic-rave.com/Data.lra

Now onto the wonderful world of installing:

1) Extract #1 to the any hard drive.

2) Extract the update, then move the files into your Lunatic Rave folder.

3) (UPDATE) Copy the newly updated version of data.ira to LunaticRaveOnline\LRfiles\Config" it will ask you to overwrite it, GOOD LET IT DO THAT, DONT WORRY ABOUT THE FILESIZE. (thanks for pointing that out Crosser)

and now, the easy stuff:

1) Now that you have LR all set up and ready to go, DONT TOUCH IT YET, first be sure to install Japanese-based fonts into your windows installation, do this by going to control panel/regional and language settings/Language and under Supplmental Language Support, check BOTH boxes. Also make sure that in the details tab, that the Japanese box is checked.

2) Install a app called AppLocale:
The Microsoft AppLocale Utility
or you can try this link (for those who cant pass the M$ bullshit): AppLocale Utility Download - FreeFunFiles.com

After you have installed that, make it a registry key, download and unzip the file to any directory you want: http://alcahest.club.fr/perso/apploc...execontext.zip ,(Thanks to Anettai)

3) Now that you have that step taken care of, go download some bms files of your own, then extract them to \_songs\ directory

4) Finally, we go to the config menu, but before we do that, we want to do two quick little things, go to your LunaticRave.exe file, right-click on properties, go to Compatability, then click on the checkbox that says "Run this program compatable for", then select in the pull-down menu that says "Windows98\Me", do this for config.exe as well. And now, the actual step of step 2, go to config.exe and right-click, you should now see a option that says "Japanese Locale", click on it.

5) We are now in the config.exe file, go to where it says JukeBox, go to where it says Refresh All, click on it and you will see the LunaticRave window pop-up. Once that all the songs are loaded, you should be able to see the very first screen, go ahead, hit enter and enjoy.

Troubleshooting:

Now if you cannot see the screen after you load the thing up, here is what you do. Go back into the config.exe file again, look under the Skin tab and start playing around with it, if certain configurations do not work, here is what I have so far ,(and be sure to check each box as well, otherwise it wotn work):

THEME: LR_default.thm
Change Font: @Gulim
Change Sound: bmssp2007.ss

UPDATE:

Here is another reason why some people are wondering "WHY DOES IT POP UP AND CLOSE AGAIN AGHHHH".
Go into your control panel/regional and language settings, then set the standards to Japanese (yo umay need your windows xp cd to do this). Restart your computer, then load up Lunatic-Rave.

UPDATE: (again, but with 2 possible solutions)

Possible Solution #1: Go to your LunaticRave directory, right click on config.exe and hit properties, go to compatability and set it to windows 95 OR windows 2000. Do the same for LunaticRave.exe.

Possible Solution #2: Also, do most of you have your hard-drives on NTFS. If you have some partitioned space, try putting that certain partition to FAT32, that could be the problem as well. I have my LunaticRave installation on my FAT32 side.

That is what I have so far, I would like to give a special thanks to a few people (you know who you are) for mentioning this wonderful simulator for me. To ,(you know who you are) for giving that tidbid of information in a previous thread about LR and to (you know who you are) for mentioning AppLocale, without it I would be screwed lol.

I hope this helps everyone out.

PS: Online play is not available for those who are wondering why the online part is not working. It will be available as soon as the creator gets things up and running.

Great. Wow. It finally works for me.

But:

a) Can I disable sound from my videos from playing?
b) Can I enable autoplay? I tried all of the 6 keys, numpad on and off, etc.
c) Can I group my simfiles? I keep getting some (grammatically incorrect) error like "config file dose not exist" or something.

a) Not that I know of. The ones I got had no sound so I re-encoded mine with no sound.
b) 6 is for autoplay
c) Folders will work to at least 2 levels.
Ex: I have my folders set up as
_Songs
-->xth Style
----->song a
-------->7H.bme
-------->7A.bme
----->song b
...
-->yth Style
I've added each style separately in the jukebox instead of adding the entire _songs folder.
In game, however, will not have folders for individual songs so each .bmx is a separate item on the song wheel.

Solefald: When you start playing a song, just as its loading, hit the 6th button, this way you will take off autoplay. if this does nto work the first time, try to have some patience, the same thing happend with me last night when I was playing, but I got it to work.

So I'll re-encode my videos without sound, all right...

Autoplay works after restarting the program two or three times.

I still get the stupid error when I try to reload all files after adding separate folders. :\

I think for each directory you put on, try entering in three "."s before you specify a folder name, for example:

.../_songs/1st style/

that SHOULD work, im not exactly sure. I usually put every song in one folder.

I cannot get this online, unless if i am in japan, this would not be a problem. I am not exactly sure how this whole online process works for LR. I hope there will be an english version OF this simulator (as well as online servers). Someone should make a simulator that has online capabilities OR at least have something that can link to a site that would test out your ranking. that would be awesome.

the online mode is not running anymore (since it's only a beta).

it's been stated on the LR forums that it will be coming back later.

autoplay refers to KEY 6 (as in, the rightmost black key)

thank you, ug I tried translating some of the hiragana in the bbs section, however I did not succeed to well lol.

I am glad that is good to hear.

It works, finally. But now the official simfiles dont seem to load into it. Which is just stupid, last time i looked into this the creator locked out the use of official simfiles with blacklisted words.

EDIT:

This is driving me insane! I have carefully followed what has been written, i have installed the language packs i have set it to jap, i used the locale program and i cached the music. And yet it still does not work! Sometimes it gets to an empty music reel and sometimes it crashes as soon as i open it! GARUGH!

Go to the config file and look under the Jukebox tab, try to see if you can re-change the directory, also be sure to hit Reload-All. If it closes the first time, thats normal, let it cashe. After that, hit Play. If you see an empty reel with just the songs in it, press the right arrow, that will change the song arrangement. Did you also set the standards to Japanese?

Just to not confuse anyone, please read the updates I just did on this post.
