JKOC with Parallel Port Adapter Hey guys,
I've already posted this on outphase, but I'm trying to get as much information as possible so if you've got any idea on this please let me know.
I'm trying to get a JKOC running with Endless Music (Or more importantly, just working with the computer) through a parallel port adapter, and I'm having a few problems.
I remember reading somewhere that IIDX controllers required more power than a regular controller, and the parallel port adapter I've built currently hasn't got a separate external power input (didn't need it at the time when I built it, since I was only using it for controllers).
I know I could easily just snag a USB converter off of play-asia, but the parallel port converter has no lag whatsoever (or damn close to it) and I can't be bothered waiting for something to ship when I can just build it myself...
My questions, if anyone knows the answers, are these:
1) Does the IIDX controller really require more power than a standard, non-dualshock controller? (Alternatively, has anyone gotten a JKOC running on a parallel port WITHOUT the external power?)
2) If so, does it draw from the dualshock power pin?
3) Finally, how much power does it need to this pin? I want to solder the power pin to a USB tab and get power from a spare USB port, but will it be too grunty? I don't really want to break this thing since I got it in Japan and buying another one = exorbitant shipping (I live in NZ).
If you read all of that at least, then thanks for the time. Any help would be appreciated. |
