Loose keypad console plug?

I got a used iidx controller today. It works great but it has the problem stated in the title. It doesn't come off by shaking, but even the slightest pull takes it out. Is this normal? It's not like I'm ever gonna use it anyway, but could the controller malfunction if the console is damaged?

I don't wanna use tape though. Makes the controller look ugly. =/ So I guess it's not normal huh?

Not usually. Theres usually a button on the bottom of a KOC that lets you slide out the keypad consle. Maybe that button is jammed, check it.

Keypad console is fine. I'm talking about the little black rectangle rubber thing that protects the connector.

OH that.

I just took mine off, it doesnt really do anything. But yeah, it usually comes right off.
