Default LR2 character problem

Hi sorry if this has been asked before, i did search around but still couldnt reslove my issue. I have windows vista and cannot read japanese characters, they appear as: vZXo[I and such. I have followed guides with changing my non-unicode programmes to japanese etc and i can now type in japanese and stuff but cannot read the characters, which is why i am struggling with LR2 cause i cant read what it wants me to do nor read their website, which is odd becuase jap sites such as amazon.co.jp turns out fine..
I dl a japanese fonts pack but do not know how to apply it so if anyone can help me with that..or just a solution to how i can turn these weird vZXo[I into proper japanese characters.

thanks

I think the problem is that some of your BMS files had incorrect formatting/encoding. Maybe some of your files are encoded in either UTF-8 or Unicode format. The solution there is to open the BMS/BME file in Notepad, click File > Save As, change encoding to ANSI, and save.

Yeah, it kinda sucks that both LR1 and LR2 β doesn't support UTF-8-encoded notechart files at this moment, because the ANSI format couldn't encode certain characters. (such as ♥, , , etc.)

Hmm well the encoding was already in the ANSI format..its strange that in some word docements the japanese characters come up fine and others its all weird with !?.?.//? etc..
