Lunatic Rave alternative (for himawari errors)

For those of you getting the himawari error even after going through all the steps in the lunatic rave setup guide, I've got an alternative to getting it to work. However, this involves installing the Endless Music mod and if you're thinking about installing the GOLD theme.. don't bother cuz it's too much of a pain. but feel free to try to make it work. Anyway moving on.

Step 1 -> Make sure you install Japanese font and set your computer to run non-unicode software using Japanese via either "Applocale" (refer to Starting up LR guide here if you're using XP and below or follow the steps below if you're using Vista.

First, you'll need to download Japanese fonts. To do this...

Start -> Control Panel -> Windows Update

you'll see this..



and then do this..



and once that all finishes.. do...

Start -> Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options





Step 2 -> Ok now that's out of the way, we can get ready with the extractions.

Download this, the Endless Music mod without the music so I've managed to cut down the filesize to about 100mb instead of the original 250, and extract it. Everything you need to run EM should be in there.

Step 3 -> Setting up LR/EM

Ok here's what you do. Run config.exe (you shouldn't get a himawari error.. cuz i didn't, but did with the official LR config.exe) anyway it should look like this



make sure you've set your theme and frame so that they are LR_endless.thm and LR_endless.frm or any of the other .frm with endless on it. Once that's done, click the jukebox button. that will take you to..



Do step 1, and then add songs following step 2 and when you're done, do step 3 which is caching your music. When you click the button, it should prompt you with a "yes" or "no". Choose "yes". It can take awhile if you have a database of all IIDX songs so yeah.. it took me around 5 minutes? so yeah expect to wait that long. Once you've finished caching, there should be a popup telling you that it's finished. When it is, close down the jukebox by clicking "OK" and then run LR by clicking the Leftmost button that has "LR" on it and it SHOULD work, if it doesnt, send me a pm/reply to this thread and i'll see if i can help =]

It gets to the music reel, but crashes each time.

Also, I can't veiw the japanese text in either of the programs, even with App Locale. And the language settings messed with in Control Pannel.

If I go to Expert Mode, I can get up to an empty music reel.

Yeah, i find it odd that you have ??? instead of japanese texts.. did you reset your computer after installing japanese fonts? and what os are u on?

Yes, I restarted my computer after installing everything (It was required.)

and you've done the applocale thing as well yeah? ok.. did you extract the files from the lunatic rave zip file before or after you had japanese text installed? cuz if you did it before installing jap fonts.. the files could be in jibberish and not japanese. anyway i'm not sure if that would help but yeah try that

I extracted both before and after. Both times it has jibberish and not japanese fonts.

Other programs that would normally be jibberish have japanese fonts. It's just LR and EM

hmm that's really odd.. i'm having that issue with LR when i run config.exe.. it has ???? which i'm guessing is the reason why it doesn't want to work.. =/
