I can't wait for a new release, I'm really looking forward to a better theme and graphics engine. Hey if you need a tester or some graphics made up or anything I've been dipping my hand in some of that Stepmania theming goodness. Hit me up.

PS 1440x900 fullscreen support FTW

Panda:
Like an "all songs" GAP setting then? I could add that in, but I wouldn't know yet what to do about the songs that have many BG sounds in place of 1 BG file (such as found in most original BMS songs)

RoxasAichi:
Try making a new folder in BPM's Songs folder, and place your songs there. Currently BPM won't detect songs placed directly in that folder (only sub-folders)

t3hSurge:
Thank you for the offer I still need to improve the skin system a little more first(such as using normal image files instead of DXG image packs)

Also, increased resolution is certainly possible, although my computer has a maximum of 1024x768 resolution, since it's a laptop. I wouldn't be able to test modes higher than that until I get a new computer.

Pelevil:
Thanks for trying it and for your high rating even in its unfinished state

t3hSurge: Once everything's in place I'll definitely need all the help I can get

And now to combine 2 posts in one....

BPM is now Version 0.042a!

As is usual lately, there's plenty of new things added and fixed.

- Implemented a 'BMS Cache' system, to help speed up Song Folder and Difficulty selection on the song select screen.
- With the cache system implemented, Be-Pachi Music can now load and support a nearly unlimited number of songs in a folder/subfolder. Actual amount is 65535 BMS songs, which should be enough for now. However, just like the notes below, further expansion is of course possible.
- Fixed the crash caused by the attempted loading of 0-byte sound files.
- Converted many of the Themes' BMP images to JPG format. Still DXG-compatible, but increases quality and decreases the Theme's file size.
- When changing difficulties on the song select screen, any missing difficulties will now be skipped over. That is, when a song has only 'Lv.1 Normal' and 'Lv.2 Hyper' difficulties, but not 'Lv.3 Another', the selector will go from 2 back to 1.
- The songs now sort in order from easiest to hardest in the song list.
- A some-what hidden 'Beginner' difficulty level is now selectable on the song select screen, for songs that have them. It can be accessed by cycling the difficulty select.
- The Metronome no longer loses synch at a song's BPM change, when "Be-Music" Tempo Change Effect is selected.
- Fixed a possible freeze caused by down-scrolling the song select list quickly for several seconds and rapidly switching difficulties.
- Added in a 'No Songs Found' message on the Song Select list, if no songs were detected during cache creation/update.
- BMS added to the root 'Songs' folder will now be detected by BPM. (Example: .\Songs\Yeah\1.bms)

I had planned for other themes (BMDX, 3D, Mini2) to be added, but progress on updating those is unfortunately slow, so only the 2 current themes are available for now.

And again, due to the amount of changes, a complete re-download is necessary. However, the file size is much smaller than before.

Each of these contains the program and both current themes (7K2 and HUGE).
http://x-raise.cjb.net/bpm_dl/bpm_complete_v0.042a.rar - 3.4 MB
http://x-raise.cjb.net/bpm_dl/bpm_complete_v0.042a.zip - 6.5 MB

Love that RAR compression

Edit: actually, a complete re-download doesn't seem to be necessary (Unless the graphical improvements are wanted). I tested the new EXE with the previous version's themes, and no problems found.

So, here's the EXE by itself. It can replace the EXE of version 0.041a. Download to the BPM folder and choose to over-write the existing BPM.EXE file.
http://x-raise.cjb.net/bpm_dl/bpm.exe - 815 KB

And.... now it's version 0.0421a.

It fixes the 'Automatic Cache Update' option, which did nothing in the previous version (A lack of testing will do that )

Since it's just that one thing, a quick EXE download and overwrite will fix it. (This will update versions from 0.041a-0.042a)
http://x-raise.cjb.net/bpm_dl/bpm.exe

Of course, the 'complete' version including the themes is updated as well.

If you wanna take over making the installers, I suggest you get the following 2 tools:

Nullsoft Scriptable Install System (what I used)
HM NIS Edit (trust me, it's the best app you need! It's even got a wizard that can set everything up for you!

And just for fun, I might send you the script I used...

Of the 400 BMS files I currently have, it picks up about.... 5. The folders that have BMS files in them are shown, but when I enter them, most of them only show "<- Back".

That's odd...

Although, might those be songs with 'beginner' notecharts? I modified the song select a little to show only those songs with the same selected difficulty.

Does switching the difficulty once reveal the missing songs? If not, then it's something really bad.

Although that difficulty switching really does need to be improved upon. Right now it's more of a quick hack than anything else

Edit: Next release will probably have a 'hide beginner level' to make things less confusing.

I know I have a lot more than 5 songs with a Beginner difficulty... haven't tried switching the difficulty on the song list. I'll let you know how that goes when I get home.

I'll fix some currently found bugs (mis-formatted BMP images cause a pop-up error), work on some other things (including a better difficulty select), and then I'll upload a new version either tomorrow or the next day.

Also, I wonder who rated this thread a 1? And why? If there's a reason, I'd be interested to know, so I can improve upon that...

There should be default animations, all of my officials leave me with a huge blank box. Also, the game doesn't run as smoothly as it should for me. I've ran BPM on my pc on both XP and Vista using a nVidia card, and ran it on a laptop on both OSes running a mobile ATI. The game just seems jerky for me in both fullscreen and windowed mode.
