Ive never used a KOC, much less seen one in real life, But I'd suppose it would be easier to do on a offical controller. And yes, scales are hell on KB.

Some parts are harder because your hands are cramped together.

But at the arcade I've passed level 5's at the best of times whereas I can do like level 8's at home on a simulator with my keyboard.

My two cents for KBers:

I use the index and middle fingers of both hands for the keys, and my left pinky for scratching. My middle fingers handle Z and S, and F and V, while my index fingers cover X and C and fight over D. For zsxdfcv scales, I temporarily put my left index finger on S, and my left index and my right index finger and right middle finger slide down to complete the scale. Coming back (vfcdxsz) is just hard, and is what keeps me from passing nageki no ki [H].

And yeah, playing KB makes Dirty of Loudness hard to pass.
