[POC] HappySky Theme Creation for EM

Hi,

Since approximately one week, I'm trying to understand the Theme Creation of LunaticRave (more precisely Endless Music). And so to practice myself, I start to create a HappySky theme.

Only the Mode Select is implemented (it is almost finished but I have so many difficulties to do the Background animation. I'm really bad with photoshop or others graphic software).

So I just want to share what I'm doing about and maybe have some feedback from you (and if you have motivation and want to join me, you're welcome ^^).

I know nothing about LR's theming system, but that is amazing so far.

LR theming is really impressive and you can do a lot of stuffs really easily (the only problem is that there isn't any english documentations so makes it difficult to understand.

By the way, I don't if there is some theme creators here for Endless Music but I have a small problem. I don't know how to differenciate if the user press the turn-table RIGHT or LEFT. So I can't decide which direction choose for the decide picture frame. I can detect which mode is ON and which mode becomes OFF (but not in the same time)....

i'm sorry, i can't believe this... it looks like video of a LR startup screen, and then cut to video of the happy sky arcade... also the bottom text says network off press start until the menu, and then it's network on. i have briefly looked at the video, watched it a couple times, downloading the high quality version, but i can't believe this until i see something else... i'm not trying to pressure you into posting a beta or anything, i just don't think this is legit. but like any other person here, i'll hope something real comes of this.

edit: no wait, i apologize. watching the high res version it looks more like the beginning is a video, while the menu selection actually is an LR skin, which i'm sure that's what most pretty skins do right? they have a video from the arcade or CS release and then a real interface?

again, sorry, i look forward to being able to download this... but i don't look forward to having to mess with installing LR1, heh.

edit2: honestly, i even missed where it says "come visit us at DjMax Fantasy." i really hope you can continue work on this to a complete release.

Haha that's funny!! But I'm proud that you thought that it was a fake video from Beatmania Hack version. But in one sense you're right, I'm using fraps to record a lot of videos from the Hack version in order to analyse each animation. And thanks to notice me the Bug of Network OFF which becomes Network ON (I will fix that).

But I don't understand, if you didn't believe me, why you didn't download the beta version on djmax fantasy????

Anyway, I'm still working on it but I can't tell you that I will finish a full version (the work is so huge....). But special gift for you haha, I worked yesterday on the Opening Decide and it is almost finish (just some details to improve)

Oh and a last thing, it cannot be a video from the hack version, because as you can see there is not Beginig Mode and a new mode appered (EXIT). And also there is not Background animation.

yeah, i was too excited when i first saw it, didn't want to be disappointed if it was fake, then noticed things i should have noticed originally. =) sorry about that

the reason i didn't download any beta from djmax fantasy is because the linked thread was in french, so i made no attempt to translate it.

i wish i knew more about skinning/themeing or had time to learn it, because i'd love to be able to offer help on getting the great skins and themes i've seen to be completed. i have some graphical ability, but i'm sure making a skin or theme is a lot more complicated than that.

also, if you're using paint because you can't afford a good graphical editing program, you should REALLY try the GIMP. it's free, and it is powerful.

Haha Thank you, yeah i'm a bit proud of it ^^.

And Ronji, about skin creation it is really not so difficult, It's just that it takes a lot of time. The main difficulty for LR theming was to learn it because no english documentation is provided. But hopefully, it didn't take me so much time because I'm quite good in programming and image processing (I'm studying that ^^). But I think you have a great advantage if you have some graphical skills (this is really my lackness skill for theming so I lost a lot of time to analyse animation and try to make it good).

And yeah GIMP, I know it, it's a powerful free tool but for me it's a bit useless because I'm really not good for this type of stuffs (for "pixels" processing, Paint is enough I think). So if one day you would like to learn LR theme creation, don't forget to contact me (I think I could help you a lot and save you time for this step).

Ok I worked yesterday on the MODE DECIDE phase (again almost finished, need to add some light effect and change colours for some objects)

is this for LR1? any specific version? the reason i ask is i've never set up LR1, and if this skin will be for it then i'll have to learn how.

It is for Endless Music only because yeah as you said in LR1 there is not mode selection. I choose Endless Music because it is the closest of the original game.

But what I could do when I will start the music select menu is make also a release for LR1 (I think there is not so much modifications to do... but I'm not sure of it ^^).

@Ronji: Endless music is a bit simplest to set up compare to LR1, you don't need to make your regional computer setting in japanese, but you still need to install a lot of japanese fonts...

thanks, i did actually just finish setting it up. it would be great if there was some kind of current how-to guide, but i finally did figure it out by piecing together different info i found in different places, and i was able to actually play a song.

that said, i'd love a beta of the theme you're working on =)
for that matter, if you have another complete theme you're using, if you could upload that or tell me how to get it that would be awesome.

Nice that Endless Music is working on your computer.

Concerning Full Theme for EM, yeah there is one (an almost full GOLD Theme) and it was shared by kitboys
Endless Music Gold theme released
(but the link is now dead... when I will have time, I will upload it to you, this an awsome theme

).

But the problem is that there is only the mode select (so you will have nothing else than that because I used the GOLD theme for the others phase). What you can do is to edit the "HappySky.thm" and replace all the GOLD ini files by the EndlessMusic ini files.
