Default PSX - USB adapters

I've looked through the threads and it seems like the Radioshack adapter is the best (RadioShack.com - Toys & Games: Accessories: Video game accessories: Cables, adapters & switches: USB Adapter for PlayStation®2 Controller) but a review says it doesn't work with IIDX controllers. Also this is a newer adapter than the one mentioned in the threads, but would this work fine? I've also been thinking of getting a Super Dual Box Pro, but I haven't heard many opinions on it. Help!

Been using the Radioshack PS2 to USB converter for a year and it works like a charm, even with the JKOC and USKOC. Maybe the reason why people say "it doesn't work on me" because they're using the USKOC, which only supports up to 250 polling rate and their computer's polling rate is set around 500-1000 rate.

whats a koc? because on the sticky thread, there was a program to adjust the polling rate. Im thinking of buying the EMS adapter, but all the reviews are about stepmania, and nothing about IIDX simulation.

KOC means "Konami Original Controller" which is pretty much this:

JKOC, aka "Japanese Konami Original Controller"
or this

USKOC, aka "United States Konami Original Controller"

Sometimes it helps to search before asking questions.

that means if u use the poling rate changer and adjust it to 250 then it would work?

So what youre saying is that adjusting it to 250 wont do a difference?

I just used USB port tweaker to move it to 250 and below. It didnt make a difference for my USKOC...it keeps not registering in the game controllers window unless I hold it down...

Note: The adaptor worked fine with my KASC and JKOC...

Three questions for you, Dark.

Did you try plugging the USB adapter into a different USB port?
Is the driver software installed at all? Is it up-to-date?

I just installed the driver, but no go. It just does not register unless I hold down the button, in which case it starts registering in pulses...

I just tried switching usb ports. Nothing. Am I the only one with this problem? Again it works perfect with my japanese controllers, not my US one though

Do you have a program that maps your controller's buttons to certain keys on your keyboard? Check the program, because it might set the controller to auto-fire, making the controller not responsive until holding down buttons or whatever.

If that doesn't work, I think you might have to buy a new USKOC.

Should I say return the controller? Something is not right with your computer.

Maybe you should check my post from the controller mapping topic and see if any of that work, though I doubt any of my steps would work. :-/

The reason why I suggests Dark to read my post because both of us don't have an idea why his USKOC doesn't work. The post is just a general troubleshoot run through if you have a problem with your controller on your pc. Not 100% guarantee to work, but should fix some common problems with the controller.

And no, you don't need to map your controller to make it work. There are some simple things I mention in my post that can fix some detection problems without the use of a controller mapping program.
