SSRMAX error?

Hey guys,

I have a problem installing SSRMAX, I just downloaded it from the website (Megaload). I un-rar-ed the file, and added some sound files, and a SM file, but everytime i try to run the game it crashes.

I can see the config pad and everything, but when i press start theres a white window screen but crashes instantly. Something about encountering a problem, and shutting down.

HELP! PLease!

Btw. Im using windows XP, if it matter...if it doesn't work, is there a better beatmania simulation program out there?

There are several things that could be causing that.

You mentioned having some Sim Files, but did you remember to cache them?

Or you could be having a compatibility error. You have to right click SSRMAX.exe and click on Properties. From there you have to change the compatability to Windows 98/ME or Windows 2000.

You don't mean you're trying to run a Stepmania file on SSRMAX? You're using the wrong program if that's what you're trying to simulate. SSRMAX needs BMS files, you need all the song's files in a folder for the song itself,which is placed into in a designated folder, then go into the program and cache the folder so it loads into the game.

Also try going to the display tab and changing your resolution to something else (the game worked when I used XGA or 1280x1024 i believe), and use DirectX8, and see if that works.

Yeah...I already tried that, when I look in Properties, there is no Compatability tab...

The site is where i got the simulator from, doesn't help much...


Haha...SM file, Stepmania file..woops.. ...well doesn't matter much since I can't get the game working anyways...

I tried all the display settings possible for SSRMAX, even changed Windows resolution...without luck .....

try getting a BMS file and try that. I don't think the program will do much without actual songs loaded into it, unless you've already done that.
