I was thinking, since there's too many threads about getting LR to work why don't we get together to figure out exactly how to do everything to get it working properly with folders, correct caching, and everything. If at all possible I'd like someone to make a sticky of it when it's done.

I have it working flawlessly but I'm not exactly sure about some things and I'm really not sure what I did to get some things working like they do.

Folders seem to work best when you go into the config files and alter the "jukebox.ini" file in notepad.

A normal folder would work like this, "#JUKE C:\stuff\LunaticRave\_songs\". Notice the forwardslash.

This would have the program search for any folders with ".bms/.bme" files in them and load those. I've found that as long as you tell it exactly where they are and use the exact name of the folder it'll work correctly. Just make sure you add the forward slash at the end.

Once this is done run the program and it should look for everything and run fine. Now, I did this and later all the folders showed up in the config.exe. I believe I told it to reload everything and now it loads up just fine without any re-caching.

That should take care of the "How do I get folders working?" questions.

Now, fonts. They seem to be a big problem; with kanji showing up sideways often and other such silliness.

I'm currently using "ＤＦＧ極太明朝体" This allows everything ti display correctly. After going through just about every font trying to see what worked and what didn't I find that the "DFG" fonts work the best for displaying kanji.


As it stands that should answer a lot of questions that seem to have at least 3 topics each...

There are a lot of things that need covering though. Like the config.exe window... I would really like it if someone could post a few pics or something explaining exactly what each and every option does. I know that some will do things like turn off the nice background animation as you pick songs but others don't seem to have any real affect on anything.

If anyone has anything else to add to anything I've said please do and please offer any help you may be able to to rid our BMS forum with all these useless topics on how to work LR.

Once everything we feel we should have is compiled I'd like to make a FAQ with all the info anyone would need.

i'll just quote my own post from the other LR thread -

"ok this might sound a little crazy but LR actually DELETES all of the song information files whenever I reload the information (aka adding any song to it - impossible). if i simply delete the file, it doesn't make one.

the file(s) i'm talking about are stored in the jukebox cache folder. you can open them / edit them with notepad, but they're basically the files that tells LR what song is how many stars and where the files are for 'em, etc.

anyone having this issue? i've updated it and done pretty much everything that i could think of, but that's the end result everytime.

yes, i can mark the files as read-only, but then i'm stuck with the only 2 songs that mine came with (i downloaded the gold-skinned one from bemaniso). i've tried DLing it straight from their site, same results =\

actually, a completely fresh version after being updated, etc. simply doesn't cache the music to begin with lol.. the easiest way i see myself getting around this problem is for someone that has a gold directory / songs already cached to upload or e-mail me their cached .lrc file"

it's possible for me to simply manually edit / cache all the songs myself and never reload or any of that.. but uh... yeah. manually doing that for every song................

what would also be nice is a guide on what all those little boxes and stuff int he config actually are...it's a pain guessing and checking to try and get lunatic rave to work perfect

#DEFAULTGHOST= 0 to 100. Default ghost level for unplayed songs.

Jukebox Tab
#IGNORELR= 0=Creates .lr files when caching which allows LR to group song difficulties together.
1=Ignores creates .lr files and makes each .bme file a selection on the song wheel.
ADD Used to add paths to .bme folders
DELETE Used to delete paths to .bme folders
RELOAD Re/cache the selected folder
RELOAD ALL Re/cache all folders

Skin Tab
Theme Choose which theme (.thm file) LR will load
Change Font Changes the font used to display all text in the game.
Change Frame Changes the play frame (.frm file) used when playing a song.
Change Sound Changes the set of menu sounds (.ss file) LR uses.

Random Tab
#SCATTER= 1=Unknown
#USEEDIT= 1=Use #EDIT_A and #EDIT_B to randomize.

umm im guessing someone will ask this so:
how do you group bms?
under the search directories, make it look like this...

...\LR directory\_Songs\IIDX\GOLD\(song folder)
works great.

i might be able to help on the config.exe window translation, but can some1 tell me how to take a screenshot of it?

Just press the "prtScn" button on your keyboard and paste it into paint and save it as a jpg. You can also do the same with PhotoShop and be able to crop out everything you don't need. I find this works best.

Alt+Prt Scr works better. You don't have to crop anything.
