Default What's the best AVAILABLE USB converter

There's always people saying, "OMG I GOT THE PS2 BOOM JOY ADAPTER!" or whatever it's called, but it's not available anymore. Thus, I want to know, what can I currently purchase somewhere on the internet that will give me IIDX simulation playability out of the box? I don't know what to buy - I bought that stupid as shit duel shooter that seems to lab no matter what I do.

Any good recommendations?

I was also wondering the same thing. And I have Windows Vista.. will that create any problems for any usb adapters? I bought one locally but the computer doesn't even recognize it when I plug it in, so it's pretty much useless. It was a sector 7 brand adapter.

I keep hearing random things about the EMSUSB2 giving some delay problems but I have no issues with it at all for both IIDX and DDR. I'm not too sure how well anything will run on Vista though.

While it lacks a Dance Mode (but can be used with Stepmania thanks to a script that fixes the joy axes woes on StepMania Message Boards (beta) :: View topic - Axis Problem Solution - Dilong pu203 (maybe others too)) I found the RadioShack Playstation to USB adapter to be very good for this use. I have 26-304 anymore though and the one being sold in stores currently is 26-729 which I haven't been able to test yet. The main suggestion I have is to set the polling rate to 250 hz for US KOCs and for JP KOCs 1000 hz is nothing short of godlike!

Oooo - that's a good question. I've heard rumor of PS2 -> Parallel being amazing for simulation.

I found parallel to be fast and cheap. I see no delays in my $5 nameless adapter. The only problem with parallel is that you only have one port if at all. Parallel is almost phased out. If you wanted to get a second port you would need to get a usb-to-parallel or get a controller card. Either way it can be expensive. So, if you only need one controller/dance pad/turn-table its a great solution.

Oh, and I got my parallel adapter off of lik-sang but . . . well. . . they are not shipping them anymore.

Do you mean that the radioshack converter works well for 250Hz on the US controller? And how recently did you buy this? I have an older radioshack converter and 250hz still lags like all hell...

I looked around but I can't seem to find it. I had it for a good four-five years now. It was $5 of lik-sang. I have a few other places I can look but it seems they have been deprecated entirely for the usb converters.

Ask DJ Dao for a PS2 -> LPT adapter. His have two ports. No lag, excellent quality for Bemani games and fighters.
