Converting video to correct format for DTX?

I'm working on a few new DTX files (my first) and I CANNOT get the videos to display in DTXMania, even though I'm using the newest divx and resizing them to the right size.

Getting that far was already hell, basically, cos Virtualdub/vdubmod chokes and crashes left and right (demuxing VBR videos was a beeyatch too). I ended up using a program called QuickMediaConverter. It converts the video to avi and will resize to the specified dimensions, but it ruins the aspect ratio and the video STILL won't show in the dtxcreator previews.

Does anybody have a tested method and/or tools they can suggest? I've literally been working at it for 12 hours straight (obsessive much?) and I haven't gotten anywhere.

These are tools that I use to make videos for dtx.

1. Divx Codec (use to encode video)
2. TMPGEnc (edit video)
3. K-Lite Codec Pack (let TMPGEnc read flv files)

I wrote an article in Chinese, you can use Google translator to read it.

You are the man! Didn't you make the Ok Go DTX? Much enjoyment was had by me.

Does your method work if your source video is a WMV or an AVI? I've been working with AVIs, and they go crazy when you try to set the size/resolution to the one that DTXMania requires. In virtualdub, anyway.

It worked! Thanks soooo much!

A KEY thing to remember is that you have to make sure that you note which note number you chose to place your video on the chart. For example, "#AVI0B: bg.avi".

I was trying to call everything "AVI01". Hope this helps somebody.
