Default Drummania / Guitarfreaks simulators

Simulators
Here are a list of simulators for Drummania / Guitarfreaks for PC. All the sims are avaiable for download at GDAmania.

DTXMania (Recommended). The most powerful and good looking sim. It can play GDA, DTX, BMS and MIDI files. The program is also skinnable. However, it has an extra purple lane (floor tom). Updated occasionally.
- Version 061 is recommended because it doesn't have the left cymbal lane.
- Version 054 is the most stable version, but has less options.
- All simfiles over at GDAmania are designed to work with DTXMania.
- A brief setup guide for DTXMania can be found here.

Sessionstream
Another good looking sim. Supports GDA files only. It's unique in that it has Non-stop mode, and it's interface is designed for sessioning (as the name suggests).

Drummania eXtreme
Written by BillOB, it's designed to mimic the arcade experience. It supports GDA and DTX files, and works with all controllers. Interface is not as polished but its still under development.

Digiband
Another simulator that wanted to go commercial at one point. Development process unknown as the website seems to be down at the moment.

Bandjam
Used to be the most popular sim, but has fallen by the wayside after development ceased. Supports GDAs only.

Here are the common simfile types for DMGF sims.
GDA: 6 lanes like Drummania. Cannot support video/animation.
DTX: 7 lanes because of additional floor tom. Also supports open hihat and ride cymbal notes. Supports video/animation
BMS: 7+1 lane file format used in IIDX sims, but can also be played in DTXMania.
MIDI: Standard MIDI files can be played in DTXMania. The drum part is extracted from file, but its playability depends on the MIDI file.

Default digiband

hehehehehe.... about that website not working...

The domain digiband.org was domain sniped by some Indian based company. You can now find digiband at DigiBand by: Seijinohki Soft or alternatively at DigiBand by: Seijinohki Soft . We just reached our RC1 and I've been hacking windows XP to boot just digiband for a cabinet. I still haven't had any REAL submissions for music. I'm looking to bring on 30 songs. The software itself however will continue to always remain opensource and free to use with DTX and GDA files.

Looking at Digiband, I really like the ability to sort out my songs by folder. Is there any way to do this with DTXmania or am I gonna have to just deal with the different grading system of Digiband for the sake of not having to scroll forever to find the song I'm looking for?

You can place songs in folders in DTXMania. Just name the folders with the following prefix so that the system recognizes them as folders of songs rather than song folders:

DTXFiles.xxxxx with the x's as whatever you want the folder's displayed name in-game to be.

If you have the HDD space, I'd recommend you also make a few folders with songs of similar difficulty because the game also lets you do Random Song by folder as well.

If you haven't played one of the more recent DM AC mixes, the games offer these sortings:

Default (not exactly sure how they come up with the default, but it always starts with newer songs and works down the list into older mixes, however it seems like certain series of songs and harder songs end up higher on the list.

Alphabetical: B follows A, C follows B, I really hope this one was self-explanatory.

Difficulty Level: Sorts by Basic, Advanced, and Extreme.

Difficulty #: Sorts by numerical difficulty.

Release Mix: Usually what my DTXMania is defaulted into.

Long Songs Only: Self-explanatory

Random Songs: Offers different ways of choosing random songs, such as random long songs only, random regular songs only, random new songs only, and random existing songs only.

Secret: Sorts by songs that are unlockable on that mix. On DTXMania, you could just stick in the e-Amuse songs if you didn't want to give them their own category in Release Mix sorting like the AC does. Encore songs could go here too, I guess.

hey guys,

i was just wondering if it was possible to hook up a drummania pc to your drumkit and tv like the playstation setup.

I have a feeling it's quite difficult since no one ever seems to mention it as an option. haha
