Since im getting a little tired of V3 and mp Gold cs, i was wondering if theres a drum simulator for pc. not really for simfiles though, more like a drum pad thing, where i can just jam out and hit the pads and it replicates a real drum set. i figured this would be a cheaper way to just play around instead of buying a real set or a midi set. i have a ps2 controller usb adaptor and all the buttons register. just really lost and dont know if something like this exists. thanks.

Well, this will get you started:
Edrum Monitor - Home

It will translate your controller data into midi signals. Then you'll need to find (or "find") a VSTi type virtual instrument, like EZDrummer.

You could also just get DTXMania, & make a really long simfile with no notes charted, so you could just freestyle using the drumsounds. You could even have a couple with different kits.

Doing that would require zero effort, so if you don't know how, I'll gladly hook it up for you. I have some limited experience making simfiles

Edit: oh & I forgot to mention, there's a whole bunch of drum rudiments for DTXMania that Ghostman made for training purposes:

I'm out! *drops mic*

The Edrum monitor setup looks kinda difficult to setup. I think i will go with a simulator and a really long simfile and just jam on that. Whats the easist way to set this up. Thanks again.

It is a rather daunting-looking program isn't it?

I'd already put all the links & basic instructions for DTXMania in one of my simfile vids:
YouTube - Rap Chop - DJ Steve Porter - DTXMania

I'll whip you up a simfile with a drumkit or 2. Let me know when you have everything installed & working.

Cool , DTXmania is working, how about a simfile with a drum and bass kind of kit and a regular one. Thanks man. (also how can i set it up so it resembles drummania, 5 pads and the bass?)

Don't laugh, but I don't really know what DnB is. I think it's kinda like the Powerpuff Girls theme?

I'll just make you a simfile with 2 or 3 drum kits for now, & you can change out the drum sounds on one (by renaming a new set of samples to match the ones I used, probably).

Anyway, there's no way to disable any of the lanes. Not visually, anyway. You can set FT to FT1 in the options to make the 2nd tom play 3rd tom lane sounds too (when playing real simfiles, you can hit that drum for notes in either lane). Oh and I forget to mention, I recommend ver .67b (and it's the only one I know the options in).

I'm testing your file now & will upload when it's done.

Your kits are in da

Freestyle DTX.zip

Double-tap your hi-hat to switch between them. They each run over 300 measures. When they end, just start over again.

There's a Rush kit (simulated Neil Peart sounds), a Led Zeppelin kit (snare & toms sampled from D'yer M'aker), and the placeholder for your DnB kit. I used the sounds from my Rap Chop DTX, so hopefully maybe that'll be close enough to what you wanted that you won't need to find new sounds. If you do, like I mentioned earlier, just rename the wavs to match the names on mine and drop them right in to overwrite. DTXs are text files anyway, so you could edit the drum names if you really wanted to.

I hope you have fun with them. If you decide to try out real simfiles, please check mine out.

Oh ok. The Powerpuff Girls theme wasn't too bad an example then:

YouTube - Powerpuff Girls Opening

Also, I think the Rap Chop sounds will probably do just fine from what I heard in that song.

Enjoy!

Hi.. I just wanna ask if its possible to turn off the bass window on DTXmania? I want the guitar window only, but there arent any BASS "OFF" options on the configuration.
