As noone seems to be using this thread anyway I thought I'd compile this info I've found so far (since I'm just getting into DTXMania and it's very hard to find info what with gdamania being down)
First, the readme.txt
I dug this up on a cached Google page, and it was a pain in the nuts to find:

TROUBLESHOOTING
I get a DirectDraw error when opening DTXMania
-Your DirectX is out of date. Download and install the latest version.
All the GDAs I download are offsync
-Try changing Configuration> AdjustWaves ON or OFF and see if there's any difference.
-Change the permance setting of your Audio device. This is especially noticable in Windows XP.
-Edit the GDA using GDA Creator and change the position of when the music begins.
The GDA i unzipped does not appear in the game
-The GDA filename is in Japanese. Try renaming it to something in English.
-The set.def is incorrect. Some GDAs will have a file called set.def inside the song folder. Open it in notepad
and see if the filename matches the GDA/DTX name in the folder.
Song Titles show up as weird symbols
-Your computer cannot display Japanese. In order to do so, go to Control Panel > Regional Settings > Advanced
and set "Language for non-unicode programs" to Japanese.
In-game performance is slow/laggy
-Close all unnecessary external programs (MSN, IE etc)
-Switch Configuration > Fill In to OFF
-Update your graphics driver or get a new display card.
There is no music when playing the song.
-You don't have the sound codec. Download and install the latest version of Windows Media Player.
-The GDA did not come with the music. Check to see if the mp3/wav file came with the GDA. If not, then you will
have to look for the music yourself and put it in.
-Open the GDA/DTX file in Notepad and look at the line
#WAVXX *****.wav/xa
where XX may be any number or letter. Make sure ***** matches the name of your wav or xa file.
Videos do not play
- Only DTX files can play videos, and not all of them will include a video
- make sure AVI is set to ON.
- Try playing the AVI in Windows Media Player. If it says codec not found, then you will have to download the
codec. Usually the codec required is DivX.

*END*
Here's all the DTXMania info I've compiled so far. Some of it may be redundant, but I like putting it all in once place:
So far this is what I've gathered:
On how to make your own DTX Files, I found this:
DTX file format specifications
and here are some English resources:
DTXMania English resource center
On how to combine multiple drums to one (inside the game options....NOT the same as mapping 2 inputs to 1 command), I found this:
Trouble with DTXmania (useful for us Rock Band folks)
On how to arrange your songs into folders I found this:
Drummania / Guitarfreaks simulators
From here you can download a "starter pack" with a bazillion easy/medium songs:
DTX STARTER PACK - DOWNLOAD
It also comes with a version of DTXMania, but I don't care for it cos it has no colored lanes. You can just copy the DTXFiles.Starter folder into your regular song directory.
If you DO NOT have it at all (noobs like I was yesterday):
For the version I use, DTXMania067b080323.zip, you can get it from the official site here:
DTXMania [Download]
I heard there are issues w/ the newest version, so I got the 2nd to newest one.
Here's a link to a Midi to USB converter that will work on PC (as well as PS2 for Drummania, but may require a Yamaha drum set) for those of you who have e-drums w/ a brain & want to go for the full package (4 cymbals 3 toms):
Yamaha UX16 USB MIDI Interface and more MIDI Interfaces at GuitarCenter.com.
I also made some custom skins/chips for the Rock Band drums. I saw someone else on here with his own....left him a message on his youtube about it, but got impatient and started making my own. Basically I matched up the lane/chip colors with the RB pads.
Edit: (right click & 'save target as"):
http://www.angelfire.com/nm/neogeoin...niaRBSkins.zip
On the skins, I omitted the 3rd tom lane completely for 2 of the 3 versions I did, assuming that RB users wouldn't have enough inputs for all the drums. In the third version, it should work if
A) anybody ever makes a driver that recognizes the cymbals or
B) They hook up the ion with a brain & Midi.
On the lane colors, I've tried to play with the hi-hat on the yellow RB drum and I find it incredibly confusing, because the hi-hat is the leftmost lane and the snare is next. I think for Ion users, the best bet might be to switch the plugs on the yellow and red drum. This way, you could use the red drum OR the cymbal as the hi-hat, and the yellow drum would become the snare. I'm also toying with the notion of mapping the 2nd tom and the crash both to green, if it's possible.
Would also be neat if there were a way to physically switch the lanes....in DTXMania (for those of us who're mentally unable to process anything but a snare on the left) but I feel there would be ramifications to this, possibly.
