Using PS2 GF/DM controllers with DTXMania

I want to go ahead and try using my GF/DM controllers with DTXMania, but I'm not 100% sure how to go about and do it.

I figure I'll need a PS2 -> USB adaptor, but what kind/brand? I've heard some have better response than others, and lag is not something you wan't to have when playing Bemani games. Any recommendations?

Will DTXMania automatically detect the controller, or will I need a seperate program to configure the buttons/keys?

If windows detects your controller in the joystick properties, then you will be able to configure it inside DTXMania no problem.
I used the Radio Shack adapter with my Guitar Freaks controller and it worked perfectly, but my old parallel adapter didn't work with GF nor DM.

Can i ask also my drumkit isnt a ps2 drumkit its a midi kit so does anyone know how that would work in DTXMania? Its a Yamaha DTXPress III if it helps, also has anyone gotten a GH controller working in DTXmania? I havent tried yet but someone said that a key is constantly being pressed so its recognised as a controller or something?

DTXMania works with the whole line of DTX drum sets (since it was built for that drumset line specifically). Midi drumkits work, you just need to enable midi-out on the drum, and I don't remember if there was something else.
GH controllers work fine in DTXMania if it shows up properly in your Joystick properties in Control Panel.
