How To Put BGA Preview On SM!

Easy thing...
Go to the simfile folder of your song... Example:
Chimera.
Open Chimera.sm file with notepad from there you are going to see something like this:
#TITLE:Chimera;
#SUBTITLE:;
#ARTIST:Yahpp;
#TITLETRANSLIT:;
#SUBTITLETRANSLIT:;
#ARTISTTRANSLIT:;
#CREDIT:;
#BANNER:Banner.png;
#BACKGROUND:Title.png;
#LYRICSPATH:;
#CDTITLE:;
#MUSIC:chimera.mp3;
#OFFSET:0.000;
#SAMPLESTART:85.520;
#SAMPLELENGTH:20.040;
#SELECTABLE:YES;
#BPMS:0.000=210.040;
#STOPS:;
#BGCHANGES:;

You must change where it says "Banner.png" to the complete name of the BGA...
so its gonna says something like this:
#TITLE:Chimera;
#SUBTITLE:;
#ARTIST:Yahpp;
#TITLETRANSLIT:;
#SUBTITLETRANSLIT:;
#ARTISTTRANSLIT:;
#CREDIT:;
#BANNER:Pump It Up NX - Chimera.mpeg;
#BACKGROUND:Title.png;
#LYRICSPATH:;
#CDTITLE:;
#MUSIC:chimera.mp3;
#OFFSET:0.000;
#SAMPLESTART:85.520;
#SAMPLELENGTH:20.040;
#SELECTABLE:YES;
#BPMS:0.000=210.040;
#STOPS:;
#BGCHANGES:;

save the file...

Open Stepmania... then go to the Options and reload all the songs/courses...
and thats it!... you have now a BGA preview!

In normal Stepmania, this would make a moving banner, just like Love Tropicana Deluxe in OSC BonG.

It's amazing how long Stepmania has been able to do this, but we all didn't find out until PIU Zero came out and it was released that Stepmania could do BGA previews all along.

Yeah, I've done a few files with video banners other than Love Tropicana Deluxe, although most of them have been in DDRExtreme.co.uk competitions.

It works best if you make the banner AVI yourself, by cropping part of the video to match your samplestart and then adding the banner text over it (I use VirtualDub's "Logo" filter to do that).

this is actually something we've known for awhile especially since the zero theme launched last year, but fyi you can use any video file in place of a graphic SO in theory if you wanted animated banners you could use videos for that.

Unless you meant something other than banners, as I haven't tried it for anything else yet (animated CD titles would be neat)
