PIU USB pad broke?

I was playing PIU today off stepmania, when after i closed it my computer crashed. After i restarted my computer i got a msg saying that there had been an error with hardware driver. After that i restarted stepmania, but my pad refused to respond to anything. PLz help me becasue this is not my pad its my freinds and i want to make sure it aint broke. Please

Drivers have NOTHING to do with the physical state of hardware itself.

Are you using the Pump USB Pad? Maybe your computer is just acting weird, and it doesn't want to recognize it. Try testing it in another PC

I am using the pump usb pad. It did not work on my sister's laptop. I am really beginning to think the pad is broken.

Maybe youre pluggin it after running stepmania.
If you do so it wont recognize the pad.
Plug before running and wait for the "recognized hardware" tune, then run SM.

tried that. it didnt work. My computer itslef can detect the pump pad but stepmania cant. I tried using 3.9 and 4. I reinstalled it 3 times. Im going crazy over this because its not my pad.

IF the PC can recognize it, then it's a software problem.

The pad comes with an installation cd, have you tried that too?

i could try that but i doubt that would help. I never used the cd because this was my freinds pad. I just plugged it in and it worked.

try changing the buttons in stepmania.

the problem is most likely Stepmania... because Stepmania is always broken.

i also noticede that the red light isnt on on the front part of the pad. When i conecct it it blinks and then thats it. it turns off.

So the light does not return even when you press a button, or the light doesn't change when you press a button?

You could definitely try the pad with the PS2 PIU game to see if it works there, but if you don't have a PS2...

Anyway, if the lights are not working, then the pad might truly be dead or the USB port is malfunctioning. But since Windows detects it, does it place the PIU pad as a properly installed device? If it places it in the improperly installed list, that probably will affect how the controller will function. I also have the original CD and can send the driver installer program in case you need it.

It(He,She) could trump a controller
