Default Taiko Drum Master in Stepmania?

Is it possible? and if so is there a theme/noteskin available to play this? I think having one and playing things like max 300 can actually a fun challenge.

Just curious, but the controller is only one button right? I dont know if this is possible, but just assign the same button to all the steps in Stepmania and you should be able to just wack the heck out of the controller to play.

You could also try joy2key or autokey or something along those lines to make the controller press activate multiple keys at once, which might accomplish the same thing.

Themes/specific songs I dont know about.

Hope that helped a bit. :/

No the controller has 6 buttons I beleive. left/right on the head of the drum, left/right on the rim, and start/select.

I could keep the DDR and make a somewhat interesting way and have it so the left/right is the rim and up and down are the head respectivly. That would give a new feel and difficulty to the game cause you would have to hit the appropiate sensor.

But that on max 300 = fun!

Damn! Taiko would be great with StepMania. I've always wanted to write my own notes to that game.

I don't think it's possible though, because as far as I know, StepMania doesn't support keysounds which can make Taiko really boring.

However, Taiko is not keysounded. When you hit the don or kat, it just makes that don/kat sound, its not the music track making that.

Well, who's up for making a theme and noteskin for this? I have yet to see something surface.

If I can find out how to make the notes scroll sideways instead of up/down, I could make a noteskin/gamemode for 3.9 (not 4.0 yet because its still in beta)

Yeah, well do you think it would be possible to ask the stepmania developers? I know they have the demanding task on polishing up on sm4. But would it be possoble? I mean they do have things scrolling down.

Heres a grand idea! make everything rotated 90 degrees and turn your monitor on its side. genius. haha

Haha interesting, Taiko has four "buttons" like DDR. I have the official PS2 controller that needs to be dusted off.

Well... I did however find a video of an Asian simulator of this. I think it's Chinese. But sadly, I cannot find anything on it.

if there was a taiko for stepmania, how do you make the notes? and i think it's possible cuz there is a pop'n for stepmania and it's 9 buttons instead of 4. So is not hard making a sim that uses only 2 buttons right?

I really like the SM format. It's very flexible. Even having IIDX simfiles in it would be great, with a few changes. I haven't played Taiko yet, but BeMedia will probably be getting support to rip the audio soon, and it seems like an untapped simulator resource. Sure looks like fun.
