The album in question:

"Dail-A-Song: 25 Years of They Might Be Giants"

They Might Be Giants is a fantastic band, but only has one official DDR song. (Istanbul)

That's a shame.

The project could take the very best of TMBG and create an entire DDR/ITG game's worth of simfiles. 52, to be exact.

The only obstacle would be the fact that only one song on the whole compilation (Man, It's So Loud In Here) was likely to have been made with a computer, so the BPM of each song would be non-constant and wacky.

That and actually cutting down each song to under 2:00 each (to make them ITG2 USB ready) without making them sound cut-offy. The under 2 min thing will be easy, since most of their songs rarely breach the 3 min mark.

To make this project move along faster, let's stick with Heavy and Challenge steps:

Heavy: 6-8 footers
Challenge 7-10 footers

I'll start editing tracks to DDR length. If anyone wants to cut n' paste some audio or make some steps, let me know. (I am no expert at step creation)

Save you some time editing XD

Oh and you gotta get me the full version of Am I Awake since I've only heard a 1:30 sec cut of it.

I've already edited all of disc 1.

It wouldn't be a problem for me to cut Disc 2's tracks.

And I don't have "Am I Awake?". But I just found it on esnips:

You'll need a mozilla userscript (greasmonkey) for esnips to be able to download it.

Or I'll just use mediafire.

Could I have the 1:30 cut of that song?

From the sound of that track, maybe there's room for more than just the Dail-A-Song compilation.

...maybe 2 extra songs from each TMBG album! I've wanted to include other songs anyway...

BTW, "The Famous Polka" will definitely be a boss song.

...Although many They might be giants songs were recorded with a band (as opposed to being composed on a DAW), many early songs were recorded with the help of a ....

...Dum dum duuuummm...

...drum machine, making it easier to find the BPM.

is this project coming along? i would love to join in, even if it's on the less technical side (doing things like album art, videos and banners for the songs)
