Guitar Hero 5 is set to ship Sept. 1 and as the date nears, Activision is filling players in a little more with its on-disc content. The following 24 songs were confirmed as immediately playable on the disc:
· Band Of Horses - “Cigarettes, Wedding Bands”
· Beastie Boys - “Gratitude”
· Beck - “Gamma Ray”
· Billy Squier - “Lonely Is The Night”
· Blur - “Song 2”
· Bob Dylan - “All Along The Watchtower”
· Children Of Bodom - “Done With Everything, Die For Nothing”
· Coldplay - “In My Place”
· Darkest Hour - “Demon(s)”
· David Bowie - “Fame”
· Deep Purple - “Woman From Tokyo ('99 Remix)”
· Elliott Smith - “L.A.”
· Iggy Pop - “Lust For Life (Live)”
· Jeff Beck - “Scatterbrain (Live)”
· John Mellencamp - “Hurts So Good”

· The Bronx - “Six Days A Week”
· Thrice - “Deadbolt”
· Tom Petty - “Runnin' Down A Dream”
· Vampire Weekend - “A-Punk”
· Wolfmother - “Back Round”
"Back Round" by Wolfmother is the first single off the band's upcoming album and if you're a fan of the band, you'll be pleased to know the game's official site is offering the track as a free .mp3 download. The release also notes GH5 is the first video game appearance for the bands Band of Horses, Darkest Hour, Elliott Smith, John Mellencamp, Rose Hill Drive, The Bronx, Tom Petty and Vampire Weekend.
However, Activision is also still trucking along with World Tour DLC, with the company announcing the following lineup for the near future:
The Victory Track Pack - Available Now
* A Day To Remember - “NJ Legion Iced Tea”
* The Sleeping - “Bomb the World”
* Silverstein - “I Am The Arsonist”
Eagles of Death Metal Track Pack - Available July 16th:
* “Anything Cept The Truth”
* “Cherry Cola”
* “I Only Want You”
Vagrant Records Track Pack - Available July 23rd:
* Thrice - “All the World is Mad”
* Alexisonfire - “Young Cardinals”
* Senses Fail - “The Martyr”
Knuckle Sandwich Track Pack - Available July 30th:
* Protest the Hero - “Bloodmeat”
* Dropkick Murphys - “I’m Shipping up to Boston”
* Against Me! - “New Wave”
It's a shame this has a very good songlist so far.
*facepalm*
I love how people in this community will complain about a game having a good song selection. You haven't played this yet, you don't know how the mechanics will differ (believe me, I'm sure they've heard a lot now on how loose the timing window was on WT), so frankly you're complaining about something that's good based on an assumption that the game will be bad.
They have a bad track record sure, but don't pass judgment on something until it's actually released big guy.
It's not the criticism that annoys me, I think that's okay. It's the automatic "thumbs-down" this article gets from the Bemani elites here just because it has the words "Guitar Hero" in its title.

I'm pretty sure it has more to do with that horrible songlist
Is this actually going to be called Guitar Hero 5? Or will it receive special-title treatment? GH WT 2? I know: Guitar Hero: Galaxy Tour!
This isn't DDR we're talking about =O

Honestly the rest of the songlist isn't too bad. I mean, we get Stevie Wonder, Johnny Cash, Sublime, The Gorillaz, Queen + David Bowie and quite a few others.
Right now, I could definitely play it by songlist alone, but there was alot of stuff wrong with GH:WT, including the disc skipping, making everything fall out of sync, so I'm really wary on this because of the stupid bugs from WT.

There's been time enough between GH:WT and GH5, I reckon (particularly GH:M and GH:SH) to work out any glaring bugs. If they haven't fixed 'em by now, then yeah, they deserve all the criticism they get.

anyway, i think this version of guitar hero is going to kick ass, especially if the new drum set i saw was actually the real thing. (rounded cymbals instead of triangles from what i saw). can't wait.

Hey dipshit I stopped buying Activision products a long time ago because they're driving the music gaming industry into the ground. I could give to fucks less is the game is the best music game of all time I'm not supporting Activision anymore
and for those of you who say this songlist is shit say that Beastie Boys, Beck, Blur, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Elliott Smith, Iggy Pop, Kings Of Leon, Queens Of The Stone Age or Vampire Weekend suck and I will fight you in the street.
EDIT: hahahahaha I said to fucks
And say TV On the Radio sucks and I will murder your family, your friend's family, your friend's friend's family and the heads of whatever political party you support be it democratic or otherwise.
