Additional DDR X Cabinet Details
Posted by bacon - Fri 08/01 2008 - 05:27 PM - 1872 Views
After one French player traveled to Japan for the second DDR X location test, some small details can be found in the cabinet design.
The coloured circles indicate the following..
Red - future placeholder for the USB slots.
Blue - eAmuse card reader.
Yellow - what KK, japanese player, said he heard is this was supposed to be a jog dial similar to those on iPods.
Also some things you can see in the pictures below; The screws on the brackets are either smaller or possibly flat. The coin drop is now located on the top of the machine between the two hand bags pictured below. This cabinet is definitely much like a deformed IIDX machine.
Rumors of an August test location for the Brunswick Zone of Napperville, IL is still floating about. -dark-xuxa heard this after seeing the Konami representatives at the arcade one afternoon.
That's all for now-
update;
Also from the Konami Staff Blog; combo counter now works similar to ITG2's,
Marvelous combo=White
Perfect combo=Yellow
Great combo (Meaning you've got a great but still have FC)=Green
Oh god, finally. I was hoping ITG would have at least taught konami a lesson on how to do this stuff right, and it looks they've done just that. God I hope we get one of these machines where I live. It's.. soo... pretty... O.O
P.S. If that thing in the middle is really a jog dial...it seems a bit unnecessary?

lol I'm sorry but I remeber you...You a fucking DDR fanboy so whatever you have to say is worthless.
Have you even played PIU PRO?
In all my years of playing 4 panal dance games I have to say I really like the new 5 panal change.
I really hated PIU at first because I was so used to playing DDR and ITG.
I also thought of it to be a cheap reduplication of DDR with an extra center piece.
I seriously like PIU now its grown on me, and I advise you to try it too.
To be honest with you, DDR sucks to me now and I've been playing it since Konamix came out.
PIU is the future.
It's gaining alot of popularity here now.

They've already announced that the USB support will be for linking between DDRX PS2 and AC versions for edit data purposes.
Konami will never allow anyone to bring their own custom songs into the arcade.
They would lose money.
Why buy another DDR when we can get our own music mixes?
lol I'm sorry but I remeber you...You a fucking DDR fanboy so whatever you have to say is worthless.
Also a IIDX and Pop'n fanboy, don't forget to mention that. I really need time to become a GF/DM fanboy too. I paid a buttload for the damn controllers, after all.
And yes, I have played PIU (Though, not as much as I'd like to because of lack of locations) and I think it's fun. In fact, I've played as many music games as I could try, because I like the genre. But you know, assume what you want.
I don't think PIU Pro is really that fun, especially compared to the basic PIU games. Sorry.

This still won't be better than PIU Pro.
Plus dat machine is gunna be overpriced....maybe close to 30,000.
lol I wouldn't be surprised.
FUK U KONAMI...YOUR NOT FOR THE FANS, YOUR FOR THE MONEY.
Considering you're obviously not a DDR fan, why do you care?

This is what we call "fair weather fan". I'm sure you were all over ITG when it came out. It's what all the kool kidz are into.

Damnit, I wish I still lived in Illinois :( I made it for the location test of SuperNOVA 2 and IIDX GOLD and I really wish I could see DDR X. Anyway, this iteration of DDR sounds pretty amazing to me, hopefully Konami makes a comeback with this.
These statements are so contradictory that it is funny. Pump and DDR are only competitors and both have their pluses and minuses If you don't like one you have another. After all this is what competition is supposed to do.
But saying Pump is the future by saying Pro is what dancing games should be is hilarious, considering it is ITG with 5-panels. Even the developers said it isn't part of the main line and shouldn't be taken as such.
I'm still iffy about DDRX, but I haven't seen any stepcharts, which is when I'll be able to see whether or not I will enjoy it.

I kind of wish there was a better location than BZN; as nice as it is being close to where I live (relatively anyway), it sucks that a good chunk of the people that play anything music games there are the closed-minded hardcore lol-fcuk-Konami-anti-DDR kids that just don't know when to leave a dying horse be.

If by test location we mean actually going to be released on a nation wide scale, unlike SN2 which has about as much locations in the US as all the IIDX machines in the US, then awesome.
If they really want to make sure that every arcade can get one of these sexy beasts, they should do a trade-in - turn in your current DDR arcade and receive DDRX at a reduced price.
Although it'll never happen, it seems like a good idea.

Uh, yeah, we need a test in one of the states with one of the most abundant amount of machines: California.

In all honesty, I agree this machine is going to be overpriced. The only locations that I presume will see this beauty will be Dave and Buster's arcades, big city arcades (such as in NYC or Chicago), or, well, TGA or BZN.
And I'm iffy about whether or not I think E-Amuse is coming here. With a big price tag that will surely be coming with this machine, I doubt many arcades will be willing to jump on the "$100 a month" idea, especially since this will be one of the first worldwide series featuring it.
wow. somebody traveled from france to japan just to play at this location test? I'm impressed.
Hi guy, hi everyone.
I'm the owner of those pics and the current president of "Azur Games", a French association for broadcasting of rhythms games. You can see my girlfriend, (Hytana Wakaba, of course it's a nick :D) on the pics =)
To answer you, noisy doll☆, know that my girlfriend did not make the trip to Japan only to test DDR X. I simply noticed that the arcade games center was on her path. I asked her to pick up some photo (if possible) and this is the result ^^. The sharing of those ones has begun on the site Zenius-I-Vanisher.com and I am happy to see it on bemanystyle. Since the time i'm member, that's like a reward =D
Well, if you have any question, don't feel embarrassed and send me it my email (check my profile on bemanystyle.com) or send me directly a pm on the forum of my association (http://forum.azurgames.org), may I'll ask to Hytana if she can answer me.
Ho and by the way, I'd like the webmaster mark on this article the pics come from "Azur Games" or "www.azurgames.org".
Thanks for your attention guys and hello from France ;)
Wow, this all looks very promising! Talk about overshadowing Super Nova 2, heh. =)

Well I hope DDR X comes out better than I expect but,
I don't expect much.
I would love to get back into DDR if they give me a reason.
Seriously though, I hope they took some time to make this the best DDR.
Who knows maybe when it comes out I'll eat my words?

eh, after initially being ultimately disappointed by SuperNOVA--which felt to me like a release just for the sake of a release--I got a feeling after playing SN2 that even though they still hadn't done anything innovative with the gameplay, they actually cared about the series again.
Now that I see them actually implementing gameplay changes, and adopting many of the great features from ITG (both hardware and software-wise), I'm ready to put a little more faith in them. Now they just need to add a good number of challenging--but not ridiculous--stepcharts. ITG had lots of good 8s, 9s and 10s, and I'd love to see more charts in that range on a wide variety of music (why should all of the hard charts be on fast songs?)
I still have a sour taste in my mouth from the Rock Band lawsuit but I'd be a big fat liar if I said I wasn't looking forward to trying this.

I agree with you.
I hope they just don't screw this up.
anyway I can respect people that like DDR better than PIU.
I geuss it's just peference.Although it took me a couple weeks to get used to pump befor I found it to be fun at all.

Ah >.< forgot to read up on that.
Well anyways, it LOOKS nice. Now let's see if the gameplay is good too. This means stepchart-wise.

Just to straighten this all out. Yeah. Pump and DDR fan here. Pump Pro is NOT Pump. Not even close. Piss poor ITG with a Pump theme.
But there are many other places for this talk.
Other than that, this machine IS AMAZING! haha it's the IIDX cab of DDR!
I can't stop going here and looking at them.
It's pretty amazing.
I love how there isn't even a song list and I already can't wait!

ok can anyone confirm that theres a ddr x at six flags in illinois. my friend swears by it that there is a ddr x machine in the us in illinois at sixflags.
and he has played ddr enough to know a different cabinet from the extreme machines

Most excited about the new grading system, songs, and steps. I don't care much for the widscreen vision and over-authenticity of the machine.

There would never be a location test at an amusement park, ever.
"ITG2 in this cabinet"
I think Konami just made us ITG3 cabinets.

I would say almost definitely not. A DDR Extreme is far more likely. They can't maintain their machines for crap much less know the differences between any versions of machines, I can't see how on Earth they would test a DDR X machine there.
Plus a friend just went to Great America recently, I'm sure he'd notice if they had a DDR X.
