2010 was a busy year for Konami at AOU, with them showing the latest versions of three hotly anticipated games, jubeat knit, DanceDanceRevolution X2, and GuitarFreaks/DrumMania XG. Like any other year at AOU, the BEMANI events were filled with special guests, announcements, and prizes for players who braved the cold to attend.
Of course, there's a lot of information to sift through, so we're here to sort through it all and provide you with a wrap-up of all the important events.
DanceDanceRevolution
It was a hot year for DDR as they showed off the latest edition of the new arcade game DanceDanceRevolution X2. The location test had the following new songs added to it:
New Licenses
fripSide - only my railgun - 143bpm SP[1/4/6/8/7] DP[5/8/13/6]
New Konami Originals
kors k Vs. dj TAKA - Decade - 148bpm SP[2/5/8/12] DP[5/8/12] Sota F feat.Anna - Sky is the Limit - 150bpm SP[2/5/9/11] DP[5/9/11] Y&Co. - WH1TE RO5E - 85-170bpm SP[3/5/9/13] DP[?/?/?] jun - KIMONO♥PRINCESS - 95-190bpm SP[5/7/11/15] DP[7/10/15] (Final Stage only)
New from BEMANI
SUPER STAR 満-MITSURU- - She is my wife - 85-170bpm SP[3/5/7/11 DP[?/?/?]
Along with the other songs from previous DDR X2 location tests.
On the event stage, dj TAKA and TAG were present to give the presentation on X2 and field questions. Here is some of the things that were said:
-GOLD RUSH and Mei will appear in DDR X2.
-There will be a web editor for making edits.
-There will transplants from the UNIVERSE series of CS games.
To leave you, here's a video of "Decade" being played at the AOU event.
jubeat
AOU2010 was home to the very first location test of the new arcade edition of jubeat, jubeat knit. The following new songs were present on the machine:
New Konami Originals 常盤ゆう - 少年リップルズ - [4/7/9] DJ YOSHITAKA - ALBIDA - [5/7/10]
New Licenses GIRL NEXT DOOR - INFINITY - [1/5/8] 鴉 - 夢 - [3/6/7] 斎藤和義 - *いて帰ろう - [2/5/8] lecca - 紅空 - [2/5/7] mihimaru GT - アンビリーバボー feat.TAKUYA - [1/5/8] COLTEMONIKA - そらとぶひかり - [2/5/8] REMPTATION97 - A Dance & A Beer - [?/?/8]
The jubeat stage was home to a variety of guests, including DJ YOSHITAKA and Mutsuhiko Izumi. Topics of discussion were jubeat mobile for the cell phone, jubeat ripples APPEND, and of course, jubeat knit. DJ YOSHISTAKA used the event to announce that Anisakis would be making an appearance in jubeat.
GuitarFreaks/DrumMania
Konami displayed the latest updated version of GuitarFreaks/DrumMania XG at AOU this year. You may recall that the XG series will have added buttons and updated cabinets, making it a very popular game to try out. The following new songs were on display at AOU (unfortunately, I cannot find difficulties at the moment):
太陽の花 / Daihei
モナリザ / FUZZY CONTROL
人間進化論 / ピ*カルピン
Blue Father / BINECKS
*レッタ / 音速ライン
Two Hurt / DELUHI
The guests for the GFDM stage included appearances by Yuei and 96. Unfortunately, not a whole lot of information appears to be available about this particular event, but XG was discussed and the audience was able to participate in a quiz on the games. We'll update this further once we get more information.
GFDM XG will released sometime next month (along with V7), DanceDanceRevolution X2 is currently planning on a June release, and jubeat knit does not currently have a planned release date because of how early in production it is. However, jubeat ripples APPEND is expected to be released sometime next month.
If before DMAshura or someone makes some song named X2 Rush. x.x
I can't wait to see the 14 footer (ITG difficulty) charts for Mei, it's going to be BMR all over again.
All in all, it finally looks like DDR will have it's first good mix since Extreme....song wise, though I can't say the same chart wise and sync wise. I know it's going to suck because 1. They still haven't fixed there 12th note problem being regular chart use and edit mode from what I've heard, and 2. They didn't correctly step Fire Fire and Second Heaven AT ALL (just an example, though smooooch is atrocious too), but what can be expected?

I'm so happy for Mei too. I've been wishing for that song for a long time.

They've actually fixed the 12th note issue with native Konami charts (they went back and retroactively repaired the 12th note issues through most of the revival songs on X), but they MUST MUST MUST fix 12ths for Edit mode.

I've added some of the press pics, check them out.
Comments on the pictures since I've now seen GF/DM XG.
I know this won't happen because Americans blow with taste, but I hope sometime soon this new idea of GF/DM just absolutely kills RB/GH/BH. XG is truly a duo of difficulty and the cabinets are absolutely spectacular, not to mention this game has ::cough:: timing windows ::cough::.
And Anasakis being on Jubeat is a kick in the balls to me since I won't get to play it until I go to Japan in December. =(

DJ YOSHITAKA - ALBIDA
And that makes four clones, three of which will be in jubeat.

I just hope Konami gives it a chance with CS releases, then US CS releases.
Decade sounds like nothing that would ever be on ddr ever. Its too good
You're telling me this is probably the first song I'll play when BVG gets their X2 cabinet.

Mei? Oh, Christ.
Though it'll probably end up being an 8-footer shitty cut. I can't see Konami carrying over Mei's sheer difficulty into DDR.

@DM Ashura: That was awesome.
@Bemanistyle: That was awesome. (Your coverage of the event)
@Konami: That was AWESOME. (Finally bringing the Bemani games into the 21st century in terms of music selection and GRAPHICS! yes! haha) I just wish they would innovate more in terms of step mechanics in DDR. Would it hurt to be more creative with shock arrows? :P
