beatmania IIDX 16 EMPRESS + PREMIUM BEST announced!

I know we're a couple days late on this, post Anime Expo stuff has really bogged my personal schedule down, but in the latest issues of Japanese gaming mags "Dengeki" and "Famitsu" it was confirmed that beatmania IIDX EMPRESS + PREMIUM BEST is coming out for PlayStation 2 on October 15th, 2009. The game is said to be on 2 discs (as per the Dengeki article) with over 180 songs and will sell for 7980 Yen (about $15 more than previous titles in the series).
This announcement helps the previously posted IIDX AC score submission list make much more sense, although it doesn't provide any details on what PREMIUM BEST is going to entail. We have a general idea of the song list for both discs, but as of yat have no information on extra songs, 5-key revivals, or extra charts. We'll just have to keep an eye out as the title comes closer to release.
And if this is "Best" anything, it automatically requires Blown my Heart Away or the entire contents of Beatmania: The Final. Definitely looking forward to this.
So we have 2 DVDs for 180 songs. Good idea... but how is this going to work overall?
Will we have EMPRESS and PREMIUM BEST working like two separate games, or will we have the old "key disc + append disc" system used in the old 5-key and PnM games? I'm waiting for KONAMI's clarification on this point...
And EMPRESS CS will be "THE FINAL" PS2 game? This would be sad if it were true...

Nothing in regards to the next system the game will be on has been confirmed. Considering that Konami and Microsoft have a very good working relationship it has just as much chance on the 360, and well the Wii is always a possibility too. Everyone should just wait until konami makes an announcement before they start getting all pissy.
And the whole "well bemani has always been on a sony system" means nothing, they've released games for other consoles too, and to be honest Konami will go wherever they see the best opportunity. The game industry isn't as much about loyalty as everyone seems to think. They need to make money too.
I would have wished that EMPRESS would make the jump as the first CS in HD but please Konami. ADD SUPPORT FOR PROGRESSIVE SCAN THIS TIME. Pretty please! I don't care how much play-asia will jack up the price. I will buy this with the fastest shipping available. IIDX EMPRESS is musically one of my favorites.
It is a bittersweet occasion I must say. It's been a great ride with IIDX on the PS2. Easily exceeds any of the Bemani franchises that appeared on the console. Despite the scare between 6th and 7th CS all games came home. Had the least number of missing songs. IIDX easily kicked DDR, pop'n music, and GuitarFreaks/drummania's asses on the PS2. This Fall marks the end of a wonderful era.
It's about time. I was begining to think there wasnt going to be a CS.buying this, regardless of price
Score collection was announced months ago, not to mention the CS versions usually come out about a year after the AC version and EMPRESS AC has only been out for about 7 months

If this is on the PS3, perhaps we can use USB controller adaptors to use our existing controllers? And since the PS3's region free, that'll make this much easier.

Everyone knew it was coming. I wouldn't be devastated if the series ended. They gave us a ton of songs to keep playing, and I really don't enjoy it as much as I used to..
Hoping it continues on ps3 just for importability, hoping they keep making CS releases, but honestly I'm ready for whatever happens.

Really excited about all of this. Seems really cool of Konami to go out with a bang on the PS2.
And if IIDX Sirius ends up coming out on a next gen system I don't own (i.e. the PS3), I will end up buying the system in order to continue playing the games, rather than bitch about it.

Also keep in mind that all the next gen systems have a DDR accept the PS3.
In the last gen systems, everyone had one except the gamecube's Mario mix because I guess they didn't see GameCube as a really big hit system... And even that got ONE (or maybe 2?) DDR/bemani games.
Maybe I missed and overlooked something, but I've not heard of ONE PS3 release of a Bemani/DDR/anything rhythmically made by Konami on the PS3. So it might just float over to the 360... which I kind of hope they do because that's what I have... not a PS3.
Although if that's the case and there are region locks... we may run into some issues. I heard PS3 DOES have no region locks for its games though which is cool.
EDIT: No, there was Rock Revolution on the PS3 and we all see how that did.

Actually, Dreamcube, the next console DDR game (Dance Dance Revolution Vol.1, if I recall) is being made for all three current-gen systems, so every console will have a dedicated Bemani release to them. While the PS3 has the least of the three, it means that it can't be ruled out as a successor home to the series. On top of that, I personally am hoping for a PS3 release since it will finally give me a reason to purchase a PS3 and the system itself can easily handle lag compensation on newer TVs. That's something the Wii can't do in a time where people are making the switch over to HD.
You all do know that both the xbox 360 and the PS3 have the option for region locking do you? It might not be on by default, but there have been games released for both systems with the option enabled.
You also know that it's very probable that konami will be forced to activate it due to music licensing issues right?

Konami will region lock it just because of their undying hatred of Not Japan
