It's been a bit over a week since we opened up the first of several raffles we'll be running over the course of the rest of the year to raise money for our new server. So far the turnout has been pretty light to be honest, but that's why we're giving you all until the end of July to donate! This is just the first of a few reminders that for a $5 donation to the site via the link below, you'll be entered into a raffle to win a beatmania IIDX 12 HAPPY SKY tapestry.
We've stated before that we'll be mailing out random merchandise to all non-raffle donations as well. To donate to recieve a cool random gift just click the donate link on the sidebar. For the raffle, click the link below. The first step in all of this raffle business is to raise the money for a brand new, beefy server which we intend to use for many new features rolling out with the launch of bemanistyle 8 later this year. All money from donations is going STRICTLY toward this server fund, and we'll make sure to keep everyone updated with the progress during the course of the donation drive.

I'm sure they don't expect to be making $10,000 right away. Even if it takes a few months, it's better than not getting it done at all. I've already made a donation, but it was chump change, so I'm probably going to be pitching some more in after I clear up some of this credit card debt.

We've had our current server for probably about 5 years now, and have had some issues with it. Part of the reason we're pushing for a new server is not only can we get something really nice for $5/6k but we can get something that takes up less rack space, thus cutting our monthly hosting costs down just a little bit. The $10k goal is just a number I threw out there to give a people a general idea of the scope we're going for. Any extra money raised after the server cost would go into putting on more events/concerts around the country, audio video equipment for some things we're planning for the site, and contests and stuff.
The whole point of the donation drive is to do cooler stuff for the users of the site and the bemani community as a whole. We've managed on what we have for several years now, but in order for us to really progress we need to kick it up a notch. If we were in the financial position to take care of it all our self we wouldn't ask for any money. Keith and I always feel pretty shitty about starting up stuff like this, we'd rather be self sustaining and just let you guys enjoy it all. Unfortunately bemanistyle has never been a money maker, so we're trying a bunch of different stuff to get all the money we need together.

"concerts around the country" now that has me really interested. A Hardcore Synergy event a little closer to home, say Anahiem, or the bay area, would be wicked sick.
