Bemanistyle.com raffle #4 - DJ MAX Technika *ARCADE CABINET*
Posted by eddie - Mon 03/22 2010 - 08:59 PM - 4453 Views
We teased at the end of Raffle #3, the idea of giving away an entire DJ MAX Technika cabinet. This is something that in a lot of ways is absolutely insane, and logistically very difficult to arrange. After much deliberation and consideration we have come do a decision on how to make it all work. Before clicking the donate button below, we ask that you read the conditions to this raffle so you understand fully how this will be handled.
First and foremost, this is a donation drive. What we mean by this, is that your contribution is just that, a contribution to the site. By submitting your donation you agree to, and understand, that your contribution is towards the site’s server fund first, and your entry into the raffle is an incentive from us for you to donate. Refunds will not be issued for any donations made to the website.
Donations made via the link below will make you eligible for the raffle. For every $20 donated you receive 2 entries. You must donate in increments of $20. All donations must include your name, and the address to which we will ship the machine if you win. You must have an address in the United States in order to be eligible for the raffle, P.O. Boxes will not be accepted. We will not ship overseas or to other countries. If you live overseas and have a United States address you may enter, but we are not responsible for additional shipping costs outside of the United States. We are also not responsible for any damages incurred during overseas shipping.
The raffle does not have an exact end date. We will end it at our discretion based on the amount of money has been received (we must cover the machine costs & shipping first and foremost). Periodic updates will be made regarding how many entries have been received. Additionally, throughout the course of the raffle we will hold periodic drawings, awarding prizes to existing donators. These prizes will be announced at the time of the drawing and will have various price values. Winners of these periodic drawings will still be eligible for the grand prize.
Regarding the prize itself, it is a LIGHTLY USED cabinet. This machine will have been on display at various trade shows, and will be housed at our home headquarters in Anaheim, California. We will ensure the machine is working upon being shipped to the winner. Once we receive the machine, if you would like to come by and see the condition, or make in person donations, you can schedule a visit with us by e-mailing eddie (at) bemanistyle.com. Only one visit to test the machine will be allowed unless otherwise agreed upon.
Entry is open to all members, non-members, and staff of bemanistyle.com besides the core administrative staff (Eddie, Keith, Malcolm and Nick). The drawing of the grand prize winner will be done live and on video during an event to be announced when the raffle comes closer to an end.
Reminders will be posted weekly, along with high resolution images of the machine being raffled once we pick it up.
I'm definitely entering! if i win my parents will hate me :)

Guys... please, if possible, try not to spread this too far around teh intarwebz. It would suck if some random guy who's never even heard of the game winds up winning.
Now all I have to do is decide what ridiculous amount of money I want to throw on this...
EDIT: btw, GREAT idea regarding the runner-up prizes.
EDIT 2: for those seriously considering entering, some additional information would be useful regarding the machine itself. Namely: what does it weigh? what are the dimensions? can it be split into pieces, and if so, how many (and what are the dimensions/weight of said pieces)?
I'll donate a few times towards this if you can update the drive value ;)

As I stated earlier, the drive value is likely coming down because we won't be stopping these raffles anytime soon, and we really haven't raised much more than what it's at right now (maybe a few hundred bucks or so). It's been a lot of fun holding the raffles so far, and as long as people continue to participate I see no reason to not continue. No one donates outside of the raffles anymore anyways.

More people entering=more money for the site. Covering the cost of the machine+shipping is going to be a hassle in itself, so they need a whole lot of people entering, and that may involve people who aren't particularly knowledgeable about the games and/or people who are just looking to win an arcade cabinet for cheap so they can sell it off and make a big profit.
i am a grownup with a nice spot next to my mvs for this and therefore am the most deserving!! (although if i did win i'd probably try to bring it to magfest and/or otakon or something)
So if everyone has to donate in increments of $20 for two entries, couldn't you just call it $20 for one entry? It's really not going to change the odds at all (as far as I know.)
It won't change the odds, but at the same time if the smaller prize drawings feature many names pulled, having 10 entries is much better than having 5.
Also curious as to when the previous raffle winner will be drawn/revealed. :)
Yeah, Moo helped me realize that on IRC. I was under the assumption that there would only be one small prize at a time (and the names would go back into the pot after each small prize drawing.)
So I guess my next question is: If you win a small prize, your name won't go back into the pot until the grand prize drawing?

If you won and brought it to MAG-Fest I will play the shit out of it.
there would be
so many high fives

Yeah, but you would still have an extra shot at additional smaller prize drawings as long as all of your tickets are not pulled.
The winner of raffle 3.5 will be announced tomorrow.

"The raffle does not have an exact end date. We will end it at our discretion based on the amount of money has been received (we must cover the machine costs & shipping first and foremost)."
The fuzzy end date is a huge buzz kill, but it's totally understandable, if anything for the shipping costs. I love the idea of the periodic raffles.
If there could be a promise of an accurate weekly update on the amount received, and what the goal would be, I'd be willing to drop at least $100 on this. I've been meaning to donate for a long time, and this is perfect motivation for me to donate.

Eh... Im currently on a budget... I just hope this raffle goes long enough so I can get my second paycheck and then I'll donate. Even though I have like.. no room in my house, I'll be happy to remove my bed in my room for a technika machine anytime haha.
This is an amazing raffle. For whoever wins I am sure the wait will be worth it. I wish the best of luck to this site to raise $, everyone involved in organizing this raffle making something this crazy possible, and to all the people donating. GOOD LUCK everyone !!!
If and when I enter can I also write an essay saying why I deserve this machine and how awesome it would be?
There's a field to write a note to the person receiving the donation, so
go nuts
*nods slowly* I will go nuts...I will thank you good sir.

Well, sirs. You have $20 so far from me. Considering another entry. If I win (unlikely, I know) this will definitely fit in at my apartment which already has the First Kiss posters from AX hanging up in it. Oh god, I'd love to own this but I better not get my hopes up.
