... They're throwing in a full free game? Guess Activision wasn't getting the hype raised for either game that they were hoping for. I'll grant that this deal is somewhat tempting, but that would require me to actually give a rat's ass about GH5.
Which I guess is exactly why they're doing this deal.
i don't like guitar hero as much as rock band but people getting mad because of a free game is bar none the stupidest fucking thing i've seen recently
Agreed. Also, if Van Halen is being given away, I can't honestly imagine that much effort being put into it. I mean, it'll essentially be just a reskinned Metallica with different songs.
In before all other GH after Metallica are just like this.
They probably noticed their sales going down the drain due to 20 Guitar Hero games on the market in a single year, with stores dedicating entire shelves to the games and consumers thinking - oh, they're milking it to death, do not want.
If you hate this deal then you are a huge flaming faggot.

I guess their little "let's try to get GH5 out the week before Beatles RB comes out so we can try to bend sales in our favor" stunt isn't working out as good as they hoped.
Although I am interested in GH:M ans GH:SH but those arent really sequels...
While Metallica is good, Smash Hits is absolutely awful.
Matter of opinion to the extreme. The charts are overall pretty great, and they brought back Play With Me, so they were definitely doing something right there.
To tell you the truth, I was not looking forward to either game because $60 each is too much for a lack of enough songs per game to make them worth it (plus Guitar Hero has always had crappy downloadable content.) However, I'm looking at it this way, both games at $30 each, plus from what I'm reading online, they are shipping you GH: Van Halen a month before street date which isn't until near Christmas.
