UnknownGamer posted this little tidbit over at DDRFreak.

Hey sexies, I was over at Gamefly and spotted a couple of new listings for DDR titles! Gamefly is usually right on the ball when it comes to leaking new games, so I figured this would be worth posting here!
Universe 2 was mentioned at E3, wasn't it? I'd assume we'd get word on it by then at least.

Assuming the X is a title placeholder, I do wonder what the next title will be.
And a HOTTEST PARTY 2? Yay. I hope they add in doubles mode this time around though.

X=10 years of DDR?
I wouldn't hold your breath for info until about early July and at E3, of course. If this is indeed the next AC game, I would expect the announcement and location tests to be held in Japan within the next one or two months.
I wanted a "3" in the series. SuperNova 3... too bad for that =(

There's always 3rd Mix. :p Seriously though, they never seem to have a 3rd installment of any DDR series; Max, Max 2, Extreme, Extreme 2, SuperNOVA, SuperNOVA 2, they like things in pairs, I suppose.
Though I kind of like the name Dance Dance Revolution X, it seems to exude excellence. Though I am anxious to see the actual name regardless if it does happen to be a placeholder.

I can see DDRX being full of nothing but horrible songs, though.
My hope would be that DDRX would be an arcade release, alongside PS2, and just overall kick ass. Bring back tons of old licenses and stuff.

I think X is just a placeholder. C'mon, even I can come up with something better than 'X'

um the X in DDR X stands for DDR's 10th birthday, not the tenth mix. Just trust me I got a really good feeling on that...

I'm curious to see if they use a new theme, after all, Supernova did come from Extreme 2, and that game had no arcade counterpart.

lol, 10th style.

ESRB.com has no DDR games listed since Disney Channel. But then, that just means that the game isn't rated yet.
I hope DDR X isn't the actual title. Final Fantasy can do that; it's a decades-old tradition. On a DDR it just looks blah, like they gave up on making up cool titles. I vote placeholder too.
I don't think Konami puts so much thought into their well established dance game's titles to give them placeholder titles (especially not 4 months before their release).
10,000 to 1: It's the next DDR title.
5,000 to 1: It's another release like "Party Collection", i.e. with songs from previous DDR titles, some newly released songs and maybe crossovers as well (which would be quite badass.)
1,000 to 1: Shitty movie/franchise/performing artist(s) tie-in release.
500 to 1: Mediocre U.S.-only PS2 exclusive release. (lol STR!KE)
10 to 1: Hmm, let's just throw in "shitty tie-in" again for laughs.
5 to 1: Gamefly is misinformed and some 22-year old moron will get 2 days suspension for this.
2 to 1: Hottest Party PS2 edition. :V
Hmm. Just checked the US Patent & Trademark database. "Dance Dance Revolution [Universe|Extreme|Ultramix|Konamix|USA]" are all trademarked, but X isn't. Again, I vote placeholder.

I don't think it's possible to trademark a letter of the alphabet.
Is no one thinking DDR X = KONAMIX 2? KONAMIX was the finale for the PlayStation, I've been long hoping for the same for the PS2.

DDRX will be the Extreme2 comparing to the AC games.
So I assume the next ps2 after that one will be the AC version.

I totally forgot about that, as I was thinking of the main line up. KCEH did sort of throw that tradition out of the window, didn't they?

But they weren't officialy made by Konami. Some Hawaiian Konami team made that series. It wasn't even released in Japan.

That's what I was thinking when i first saw this... DDR X might be ps2 only, and have all of the planet songs and whatever else that didn't make the SN2 USA ps2 release. Lame, but still a possibility.
I'm not expecting a new arcade DDR USA release until at least '09, as nothing has even been announced for Japan yet... and we all know how long SN2 AC took to get here.
And I just realized something while talking to a friend online... Time Hollow for Nintendo DS is also rumored to be released August in USA @ GameFly, I bet the song will be included in DDR X to help advertise. :P
This will be like Party Collection or Konamix or Best Hits...that's what me thinks

any of those would be nice. but i couldn't do another EXTREME2. I'm glad to see that those surveys did some good for somebody either way it ends up.
alot of you have already hit on the points i wanted to make. if an AC version isn't announced within the next 2 months, this could end up being a PS2 release that will match that of KONAMIX, Best Hits, and/or Party Collection mostly comprised of songs we wanted but have yet to see in a home version. From the numerous planet songs and bemani crossovers to songs like MAX. (period) and other poignant songs that never made the cut on a stateside ddr release.
time will tell i guess
oh, and we won't see a PS3 DDR game until next year. that's just what I think though.
Im going to laugh if this doesnt even hit shelves and the ideas just scrapped for a DDR: Hannah Montana Super Slumber Mega Happy Cool Rockstar Edition...or DDRHMSSMHCRE for short.

I like how people are bitching about DDR X being a stupid title...
No it didn't. It was supposed to stand for the 5th anniversary of the series, but too bad V came out in 2005, and both the original Guitar Freaks and drummania came out in 1999.

Maybe the game will be about Maverick Hunters and Reploids.
Then Zero could scream shit like, "WHY DO WE NEED KONAMI ORIGINAL SONGS?!"

why exactly is SN2 considered 10th mix when it isnt the 10th game? wouldnt SN2 be more like the 13th arcade release? calling the 13th game 10th mix is almost as bad as people thinking that megaman x = megaman 10 when it was the 7th megaman game released.

Club Mixes and Solos can be considered "spin-offs".
Just like IIDX Substream came out between 1st style and 2nd style....duhh

I could see DDRX being a sweet title. My two cents. Please Planet Songs. Please. The usual bit.
Nice for DDR Hottest Party 2! Maybe they'll fix some of the errors made the first time around (mediocre songlist) and pump out a really great game. Surprisingly though, Konami couldn't seem to do wrong with the stepcharts in DDR:HP (major exception being tempo/stop whoring in Super Samurai and tokyoEVOLVED). Let's see some true Konami originals and revivals!
Guys we all know that the X stands for the unknown. DDR's current last name (SuperNova) is just its slave name, absorbed from its Southern plantation owner master! The X stands for what its original tribal name used to be.
Just like how Malcolm SuperNova became Malcolm X. C'mon guys, how did you miss this.
I hope this has to do with the survey we took a few months ago, if so, i hope we see some 4th mix stuff come back to life.

Gosha> Actually the new KOs were made by other bemani artists, though naoki did make a lot of the covers.

Lay off the quote train-ing or I'm giving out infractions.
I think it just might be, a DDR game for us to catch up on the songs that we missed, I mean I have both Japanese and USA version of all the games, and I gotta say that we are missing alot of songs even XBOX DDR games included.
But then again, I think it could be DDR Supernova 3, they just like to make a final surprise for us at the end, It's just what I think. Otherwise, its like Kingdom Hearts X, peopl ethought that was the next game, but it was just some name someone made up, I don't think it will be called X, I think it could be something else. Yea a place holder
Maybe they'll start doing like what Taiko no Tatsujin did and just put the generation name right in the title, instead of calling it stuff like Extreme, Supernova, and (god forbid) X.
Posted by belch_43 - Sat 05/10 2008 - 08:55 PM [ quote ]
X is a good idea but then that means that the next willeither have a new title or X1 ?? :| not a great idea.. final fantasy :D
Well it would be better then just adding an X everytime.. god knows if there'd be a thrd game.
DDR XXX, they could just take all the missing heart songs and other sex related songs.. like "Oh nick please not so quick" ... whore =\
X2 would be perfect though now that I think about it.. Another hottest party release would be like another Disney chanel edition release D= Some people think it's fun, I think other wise since the new KO's were remixes to old KO's that .. didn't sound to great. Im interested in U3.. if there is one. ^o)
It wouldnt b so bad if its the SN2 AC songs. It should also have Paranoia~respect~,Freedom and Max.(period).Its good for those who dont have a DDRSN2 near their homes like me but I used to play many other songs on the ITG R21 machines like most of the planet songs aand all the max songs(exept period)

I just hope it (DDRX),includes ALL the songs we didn't get before, like "SUNKISS~DROP", "Destiny Lovers", Baby Love Me", "Pluto", etc.(I know there are TONS more, it would take forever to list! I hope we wont be dissappointed.

Most Likely it is the 10th anniversary of DDR Since it came out in 1998.
