RUMOR: Dancing Stage comes to an end as Dance Dance Revolution takes over with the newest release, New DDR arcade hardware?
Posted by DJ LongCat - Mon 06/30 2008 - 12:42 PM - 1607 Views

According to Neo-Arcadia, the newest DDR game known as Dance Dance Revolution X, will be released in France (I'm going to guess all of Europe also, as the original name, Dance Dance Revolution X and not Dancing Stage X.

This time, the game will be released in arcades unlike Dancing Stage Supernova 2 was because the arcade hardware had a level of Mercury that wasn't allowed anymore in Europe. This information makes me wonder if the newest DDR arcade release will run on new hardware (most likely PC hardware as all the other newer versions of Bemani games have run on).

I will update whenever I get more info about this.

This is the website for the source with an English translator.

ranatalus edit: Here is the translated text:

Dance Dance Revolution X
It is only announced for Playstation 2, but Dance Dance Revolution X will be entitled to a release for arcade. The game is to succeed DDR Supernova 2. The game will celebrate the anniversary of 10 years for DDR.
The cabinet will also be officially released in France (unlike DDR Supernova 2).
It is also interesting to note that the name "Dancing Stage" is over. Now the DDR games which will be released in Europe well known Dance Dance Revolution and no longer Dancing Stage.

I wonder if that means we are going to get a release over here. I would not be surprised seeing as its DDR's Anniversary.

A consumer port to the arcade.

Is that even possible?

I have a feeling this is going to be like Dancing Stage Fusion. It's probably just to make up for the lack of being able to sell SuperNova 2 in Europe.

Of course, Dancing Stage Fusion was the test bed for the new arcade hardware last time... sounds like DDRX might be again...

Aw man, I was hoping X was a second Extreme2. Now that it's an arcade mix we'll just get an overamericanized CS release :(

something about the translator keeps putting it on the wrong page. I'll edit Dial's link into the first post.

This has to be the game 2ch was talking about. I'm guessing this is why there will be no upgrade kits.

Upgrade cabinets?

That doesn't mean anything.

Do you mean kits?

I hope this is more like Fusion and not the real One After SuperNOVA 2. We're missing way too many KOs to not justify another Extreme 2-type release.

The reason why Konami is "overamericanizing" DDR is because too many people hated on it because of the "J-Pop".

Do you seriously think that this game, which will be the 10th anniversary game for DDR, has a chance of being be CS only? I do agree, however, that we are way too far behind right now.

Wow, the logo for this game alone turns me off from it completely. 10th Anniversary or not, I really hope this is more or less just a test for a not Betson cab.

Maybe Konami is listening to us, back when they surveyed people back on DDRUK, the one thing everybody asked for was a new cab design. Note that the survery was from DDRUK, the European site, and this new cab has been confirmed for Europe. Anyone but me see a connection?

I'd love to see DDR in a PIU like machine.
