DJ MAX TECHNIKA to Location Test in Japan

On the blog for the Cat's Eye store in Machida, Tokyo, it has been revealed that DJ MAX TECHNIKA will be location testing in that store starting on February 10th and ending the 22nd.
The location test promises to have the usual setup including a 22-inch touch screen, 32-inch visual screen, and HD music videos. Surprisingly enough, the blog entry seems to indicate that Konami of Japan will handle the distribution of the game in Japan.
We'll bring you more details as the location test begins later on today.
This is Konami being awesome by recognizing good music games. Now if they could do something about getting the game available to more locations out here, like they did with GH AC...

Woah, Konami is distributing DJ Max Technika in Japan??? I thought Konami sued Pentavision because of the DJ Max series.
I guess the lawsuit has been dropped... Hopefully...

Konami and Pentavision settled out of court, and part of the settlement meant Konami retained distribution rights for the title in Japan.
Well that's great news. I wonder if Konami will also have Technika in their AOU lineup next week. I also wonder what online service will it use: will it be Platinum Crew, E-amusement or both? I can't wait to see that.
Why don't they get together the ITG team an released ITG3 officially? :P
Konami was waiting to support a good game.
Oh like DDR is doing any better right now. Konami could get so much money from ITG3 if they'd just smarten the fuck up. But at least here they are doing something correctly.

is there anywhere where the settlement can be read? I'm interested in what the terms of the entire settlement were. I'm surprised we haven't heard more about this. When was the case settled?

Ditto on both, an AOU showing would be cool to perhaps see more details as to how the distribution will work in Japan. As for PC/e-Amuse, that'd be interesting; I'm pretty sure Konami would want to to make it e-Amuse compatible in Japan.

This is amazing news. Since Konami has the resources to distribute the game well, and the game is awesome, this could finally mean a surge in popularity for this great original game...

Technika and Ouendan play totally differently. The only things they have in common are the touchscreen control and the fact that you're tapping notes to music. So, I think they're alright.

It's almost like Technika is a good game and ITG isn't. FANBOYS GET MAD. I play ITG and enjoy it but it is not on par with DDR or any other bemani / Pentavision titles.
Note Konami settling this suit by becoming a distributor for Technika instead of trying to bleed them to death. They can recognize good production values and an attractive concept when they see it. They also just secured a piece of that Pentavision pie in case Jubeat doesn't work out.
I am not a fanboy; I agree that ITG does not have close to the overall level of polish that DDR had (particularly in the early days), and I'm not going to start a war over it here. But the fact that ITG still has a competitive scene (at least in the Northeast US) says a lot about a game that has not released in over four years.
If I were in Pentavision/neowiz's boat I'd seriously be wondering what happened. I think that Konami exclusively distributing Technika in Japan is a lot more beneficial to them than it is to Konami... not that it isn't beneficial to Konami, but what an opportunity it creates for the developers! It is so hard to expand in the arcade market these days, especially here in the US, where nobody wants to take a chance on anything. I am truly saddened by the fact that there are only 20 known Technika locations in this country thus far, and yet, you can barely spit without hitting a Fast and the Furious or Big Buck Hunter machine. I really hope that this helps open the door to more widespread, worldwide knowledge of this game.

how much of the "competitive scene" that remains still plays officials
nearly none
why was the ability to use customs added
because no more officials were going to come out

So in the end, Konami just wants to make it make money.

Japan doesn't have a well-known court that awards to patent trolls and Pentavision had enough money to fight back.
ITG is a DEAD amateur piece of shit with horrible production values and TERRIBLE music. Konami continued ITG in a sense, by releasing the shitty Universe games on the crapbox 360.
