Remember when Technika was testing at UCLA and prizes were up for grabs? Yeah, those were good times. Luckily, Michael Yum of PM Studios dropped Bemanistyle.com an e-mail today to let everyone know that Arcade Infinity players will now have that same opportunity this Sunday.
On Sunday, Jan. 4, attendees of the Arcade Infinity location testing will be able to snag some great DJ Max prizes from the hours of 2-5 p.m. Just like last time, if you are able to tackle one of the following challenges during that time period on Sunday, notify Michael Yum immediately:
Prize 1 - DJ Max Clazziquai Edition - Two (2) available - The first two players who can complete Technical Mode with at least one Clazziquai song and a C average will win this prize.
Prize 2 - DJ Max Technika Limited Edition Soundtrack - Two (2) available - The first two players who can complete Technical Mode and has pre-ordered DJ Max Fever will win this prize. The winner must show a receipt or some sort of proof of the pre-order to win the prize.
Prize 3 - DJ Max Fever - Five (5) available - The first five players who can complete Technical Mode with a C average will win a copy of DJ Max Fever when it releases. The winners will be asked to leave their contact information in order to receive the game upon release.
Prize 4 - DJ Max Fever Limited Edition - One (1) available - The first player who can complete Technical Mode with an A average will win a limited edition copy of DJ Max Fever when it releases. The winner will be asked to leave their contact information in order to receive the game upon release.
Once again, make sure you head out to AI if you can and support DJ Max all while earning great DJ Max prizes!
I'm guessing this will never make its way down here to the south in Alabama. Oh well......gaming companies just don't like the south, I suppose.

It's looking like it's not going to be available for purchase. Retailer support for the limited edition isn't very high, so right now the only way to obtain the FEVER LE is through contests and such. It'll be in far more limited quantities than any of the other LE sets as well.

That's one lucky winner then. I was surprised that they'd even make a limited edition for fever. But you're most likely right. I also wouldn't see anyone really purchasing LE except...us. But most of us should have already bought Quattra or Pulsar ( or both ) and so we'd be broke.

It doesn't have as much to do with who would buy it as much as shelf space and the fact that it's a new game. Limited Edition bundles are only marketable for games that are very high profile (I.E. Call of Duty). There's also the manufacturing cost involved, which makes it hard to produce many of each of the limited edition sets. They definitely want them to be available for fans of the series, but it's not something that's easy to manage in that sense. So they decided the best way to handle it would be to make even fewer and just give them away to lucky fans of the franchise.
The one in this contest is the 2nd one that has been given away through bemanistyle. The first LE set given away was even cooler because it's being autographed by the entire development team, making it one of a kind.
this game actually looks pretty cool. i saw it at SVGL over here in the bay area, hella ppl were all around it. beatmania iidx looks a lot more fun but the game does look interesting =]. i wasnt about to wait in a line to play a game that im not pro at xD lol

I think this one is the same one, since no one won the LE at the UCLA tourney.

*Surprised face*!

Err, I don't understand why they just can't make it available through the PM games website. I mean, the manufacturer's in control, you're guaranteed a certain allotment sold, and really, it's no harm done. Rosenqueen does it all the time, with their 3000 prinny styli and prinny fans and... well, they always end up selling the stuff, no matter the obscurity.

Like I said, there are A LOT of reasons why it's not happening at the purchasable level, and production of the units themselves is part of that. It's not like one day we got an e-mail from Michael and he just said "oh well we're not doing it now". It's always been "It's very hard figuring out how we're going to do it" or "here's a different plan". PM Studios and Pentavision are very dedicated to pleasing the fanbase, Fever is in itself being made with the fans in mind. They opted to go with all original music from the Pentavision artists rather than lisence a bunch of stuff and water the game down JUST because they realized the fans wanted that more.
The bottom line is, many options have been considered and when it boiled down to it the contest solution was really the most viable way for them to do it. PM Studios isn't a huge company, and DJMAX doesn't have the same following in the US that it does in Korea. They're already taking a huge leap in releasing the title, especially when we have people on the forums here saying stuff like "well I already have the others, I'll just stick with them". Rather than arguing against their decisions we should just support them and realize that they're doing way more than any other rhythm game publisher has ever done for their fanbase.
Fair enough. I'll accept that answer. Not like I wasn't going to support Pentavision anyways and not buy Fever the moment it comes out... but it's still good to know that PM studios is doing the one thing most succesful (but not good) developers should never do-
