Today's news of future Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock Band DLC updates came in so close together, instead of creating two separate posts, we're going to jam the two together.
First in is the news Activision is looking to bring Guitar Hero players the full album Dig Out Your Soul by Oasis some time in 2009. The company is starting out by announcing the songs "Bag it Up," "Waiting for the Rapture" and "The Shock of the Lightning" will be available for purchase on November 6 for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 in a three-pack or individual form. The three tracks give players a taste of Oasis' seventh studio album until the full album is purchasable in its entirety or on an individual basis.
On the Rock Band front, seven new DLC singles will be made available on October 21 for Xbox 360 gamers and Oct. 23 for Playstation 3 owners, all featuring master recordings from Nirvana. “Breed,” “Lounge Act,” “On a Plain,” “Polly,” “Something in the Way,” “Stay Away,” and “Territorial Pissings" will join the Rock Band DLC ranks at $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points) a pop or you can opt to purchase all six tracks at the cost of $10.99 (880 Microsoft Points). In addition to "In Bloom" on Rock Band and "Drain You" on Rock Band 2, this gives Nirvana songs a total of nine tracks playable from the band.
Oh my God, yes. "Bag it Up" and "The Shock of the Lightening" are great appetizers for "I'm Outta Time" and "(Get Off Your) High Horse Lady." More Nirvana is good, too.
Both are kinda hit-or-miss... GH gets Oasis (but not any of their landmark early albums), and RB gets seven songs off of Nirvana's classic "Nevermind" (but not the three remaining singles off the album).

"Smells Like Teen Spirit" was on the album Nevermind, which will probably show up as a full album DLC pack, knowing all the good songs that were on it. ;)

Yeah, "Nevermind" had lots of good songs, like, "Breed", "Lounge Act", "Polly", "Territorial Pissings", "Something in the Way", and "On a Plain", not to mention "In Bloom" and "Drain You". If they were to release a full album DLC it would consist only of "Come As You Are", "Smells Like Teen Spirit", and "Lithium"

Perhaps their saving those three songs for another RB release.
