There is no word when GUITAR FREAKS V4 will be available. It seems odd to only release DM when it has such great linking features with GF. Hopefully I can get an update on why this is..
This indeed great news for people in the E.U. and all.
However, a few questions remained unanswered:
1) Where's Guitar Freaks?
Seems illogical to only launch drums without its session counterpart. From what I recall, the ATEI and Italy location tests showed that both DM and GF got equal recognition and amount of play. So why only announce drums but none for guitar? Maybe they'll announce it later (coz it seems so wrong if only DM gets the go signal but GF doesn't)
2) September 2008
That seems way too long. Probably Japan and Asia will have V5 by then. So unless the duration of V4 as a whole will be extended (like what Konami is doing for SN2 to accomodate the delayed US launch)........which could mean that V5 may be delayed........or Europe would be left behind........or something.
Dunno how Konami will be able to sort this out.
3) No e-amusement news for Europe (or is there)???
Website didn't indicate whether e-amusement compatibility will be supported. Well IMHO there has to be online play support for GFDM (otherwise, why even bother testing e-amuse at ATEI expos in the first place.)
Well those three questions would have to be answered (most especially before the Sept. 2008 launch......if it does go through).
Just my two cents on the issue.

they advertised it together with DM so GF would likely to be released shortly after it

I wonder if "europe" includes Australia like most release dates...
I wonder if "europe" includes Australia like most release dates...
Dunno.........but does it matter (or not???)
From what I know/heard, you guys have e-amusement already(?) for GFDM V4.
Timezone Australia
Georges Street, Sydney, NSW, Australia
If the details are correct, your units are BRAND NEW. Asian version (AAA) with e-amuse connection (can anyone re-confirm?).
So if this news is correct (I'm checking with the Australian thread right now), then you guys already have the "goods" of GFDM V4 + online feature (although at one branch/location/establishment atm).
In short,
You blokes don't need to wait for the EAA European version of this game(s). :)

these are just theory's and opinions..
releasing both titles now could over whelm the market and make it less likely for arcades to buy both machines as it is already a high cost just for one. if the dm release takes off it would give more incentive to also purchase gf once its released.
i think eamuse is already extremely probable seeing as its slowly being released here and was seen at the last atei trade show.
it does seem lame to release an older title, but they've already probably bought licenses to use in europe, but it has just taken a long time to get this release out. most likely in my mind is that v5 will be introduced as an upgrade for dm when gf is also released.
"This stunning BEMANI music title is coming to Europe in the near future, with its FRIST official release."
They just had to highlight the typo by doing it in CAPS LOCK.

@blackraven:
an official release in australia would give arcade owners that little more incentive to buy the machines, I don't have any time nor money to go down to sydney, if DMV4 has an official release, more arcades have the game, I don't have to haul my ass to brisbane city to play it, maybe even kapow at the hyperdome will get it...

Well thank God for that. Seems like Konami don't hate Europe after all.

Oni-91 Konami has never hated Europe. In fact you could say that they've favored more as they actually have an arcade division and have been releasing Dancing Stage titles specifically for Europe for quite some time.
Here's to hoping some arcade(s) in the USA actually decide to give DM a chance and import it from Europe. A real U.S. release would be much preferred though, for e-amusement if anything.
And as much as I enjoy GF, it's fairly well-known that DM is the more popular of the two. So if they really are only going to pick one, they made the right choice at least.
Right now, the main question on everyone's minds should be "Will it do well in Europe?". If it does well there, then GF may be released there later, and if that does well, it may give Konami incentive to bring it over.
Lala must be so thrilled.

US release very well may happen, I just don't have anyone to confirm this like I had with this Europe business. So its not like a US release is impossible, its just that nobody has confirmed it yet.
I'd complain about how it isn't V5/where's IIDX/probably will come with no unlocks, but I'm just happy there's news of localization of any non-DDR Konami music game.

that's cool. But really, why not V5? Considering V5 AC should be out by then, and probably a V4 CS version as well, you'd think the newer version would be a better option, right? But either way, I hope it does well.

dj VENOM probably because they've already paid for licenses rights for Europe on V4 and like i said, if DM does well and if GF is released, it would probably be released with V5.
Oni-91 Konami has never hated Europe. In fact you could say that they've favored more as they actually have an arcade division and have been releasing Dancing Stage titles specifically for Europe for quite some time.
Yah, Dancing Stage Fusion seemed unfair to me, now look at this! This time, it's a series that hasn't even (officialy) been exposed to America. Unless they make an arcade Guitar Hero or Rock Band, and it's safe to say they won't, I will be one unhappy camper.
For everyone asking about the US version, they may be tangled in licensing issues or similar. For example, IIRC, MTV Drumscape is patented as a "drum simulation game" in the US, and you have to run anything drum related by them first. On top of that there's a huge list of licenses in GFDM and they no longer have a US division to run that all for them.
I really wouldn't be surprised if there was just a huge delay on the US release for legal reasons; we all know how many lawsuits have been filed over music games lately. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't have a release either.
