If you do most of your gaming on the PC, then you likely missed out on the excellent Everyday Shooter, Jonathan Mak's music-driven twin-stick shooter that came out on the PlayStation Network months ago. Time for you to make amends, then, by opening up your Steam account and dropping nine bucks (until the fifteenth of May, at which point it goes up to ten!) for some exposure to one of the more creative takes on the concept. Get out there and get shooting.
I own it for PS3, it plays a lot like Geometry Wars, only the rules change with each level. It's not so much difficult in the GW sense, but it has its own challenges.
Shooting is on an 8-way digital system, rather than analog, so this may frustrate some people.
Overall, it's fun, quirky, and occasionally rather frustrating (the swarms in the Lush Look Killer level come to mind, as do the airplanes in Porco In The Sky), and well worth the purchase.
The unlock system is great. I have everything unlocked, besides from the unlock you get from not dying once during Lush Look, which seems impossible, but I'm close. This game isn't Emo at all.. It's a game that I feel I can sit back on my couch, relax and just shoot things while listening to each sample. It's unbelievable.
Yeah I wouldn't say emo, it's just a different style set of music compared to the hyper-dance music most rhythm games have. The music is pretty calming for a game that gets intense as the level gets harder, which can throw you off. For a ten dollar purchase it's worth it.
I suggest you watch gameplay footage. Every enemy in the game has it's own unique sound sample that plays once it's defeated. Having a track play as the background, and while shooting loads of enemy's on screen every second, the music flows really well.

I own that game, it's not very good. Too emo for it's own good.
How is it emo
The game isn't made up of dirges
Do you mean "it has a guitar and no Japanese lyrics" because those are good qualities

Think in terms of Rez. If you like the concept behind Rez, and you like twin-stick shooters, then most likely you'll like this. If you don't like those things, you have rotten taste and need to get out of my headline.

It's got eight-direction firing, so use the face buttons rather than the right stick and you'll have a better time.
