Free Van Halen Promotions Hitting Homes
Posted by nestlekwik - Mon 10/05 2009 - 10:12 PM - 940 Views

As a note, I returned home today to find my Guitar Hero: Van Halen had been delivered to my home. For those waiting, I mailed my offer out on Saturday, Sept. 5 and received it today (Monday, Oct. 5), meaning it took a full month to receive my title. I'm not sure how the mailings have been handled, but if you have not received yours yet, you might be able to expect your copy soon.

The package arrived in a plain, manila sleeve and contains the game disc in a cardboard sleeve (you do not receive a full, plastic retail package), a note thanking you for your interest in the Guitar Hero franchise as well as promotional pamphlets for Guitar Hero: Smash Hits and the upcoming Band Hero. Even though you don't receive a retail package, there is a Web address you can go to in order to print the title's instruction booklet.

I'll have a review for the title in the near future, but right now you can take a look at the full tracklist if you haven't been exposed to it yet (* indicates an Expert+ difficulty for drums):

"Space Truckin'" - Deep Purple

Space Truckin's drum chart is a real game-seller, but the fact that Harmonix got to it first might be a drawback. Unless this is the Made In Japan live version, in which case... epic beyond words.

Semi-charmed life was interesting. A few edits ("doin crystal meth will lift you up until you break" was removed), full song not radio edit and some different notes for the singer (Stephan Jenkins) than the original album version. Wish I knew if it was a re-record with GH or if there was a single version that was released.

Playing Stacy's Mom was awesome btw :D
Interesting Yellowcard song it was nice to play some of the b-sides on weezer, and blink 182 and yellowcard.
It took some time but for some reason it wouldn't recognize my lips wireless mic at first. It worked after we played a quick play song and went back in to career mode.

It's built just like Metallica was cept with the Ghtunes music store and whatnot. A great freebie for buying GH5 on day 1 :D

I've seen some of the charts, and I'm actually pretty disappointed. Shoulda stuck with Smash Hits guys.
