Konami Officially Announces beatmania IIDX 17 SIRIUS

Konami is really into space these days with the official announcement of the next 2dx arcade release titled: SIRIUS, pronounced "SEER-i-us".

This theme will be based around astronomy, constellations and stars.

Sirius, aka the dog star, is the brightest star in the sky located in the constellation Canis Major, translation: big dog.

Location testing starts tomorrow at the Cat Eye's Arcade in Japan May 27th and ends June 2nd.

Nice. I expected a darker theme for space, but at least it's still space. And the name's cool too, but IMO something like Polaris would sound better than Sirius.

Huh, didn't see that coming. Now I'm curious to see how the extra stage system works - probably different constellations with a black hole being the super secret final one more extra stage that involves the arcade cabinet collapsing in on itself if you fail it.

I asked him about it, right now he has nothing written for it, and hasn't been told if any other song will appear in the game.

Actually ... that WOULD be cool, as Sirius has a "space" sort of theme, and there are a number of songs I'd like to see in IIDX. Maybe Uranus will sound worthwhile if it sounds less like background music.

If they use Jupiter, though, they'd better finish the damn phrase instead of cutting it off...

Right now AC is going 2 styles ahead at the current pace.
