A first look of Mungyodance 3: The Third Rave by VULPvibe Entertainment in action has been released today. In the video you can see that there is a new DDR Oni -esq battery bar; you begin with 40 bars, which gradually increases in number as you obtain a higher combo. More details of this can be found in the description of the video. The song wheel seems to have some pump inspiration with animated banners previewing the background video. There will also be very well produced animated background videos for half of the estimated 250~ song track list.
A NEW LIFE SYSTEM // Start off with a set amount of lives on each song! Miss a step or drop a freeze arrow and you lose some life points! Gain high combos and hold freeze arrows to increase your life count!
A NEW UNLOCK SYSTEM // The "Unlock Phase" unlock system allows you to choose what songs you want to unlock and in what order!
OVER 300 NEW SONGS // Over 300 new songs await for you, with nearly 70 brand new MGD3-exclusive tracks!
EXTRA MODE KICKS INTO OVERDRIVE // Extra mode returns, now with more sequenced modifiers than ever!
MORE CHARTS, MORE INNOVATIONS // Introducing "ANOTHER" level charts. These charts push dancing simulation to its limits with experimental step layouts like never before!
MGD:3 is set to release on May 24th. It is also said that this will be the final version of this series.
With Mungyodance 3 I'm aiming to really give the 4 panel play style one last heave into the spotlight; Konami's work has been really spotty on the DDR series, in my honest opinion, and with Roxor gone, nobody's really filling that gap of innovation they were trying to push out there. You can only do so much with this kind of layout and game, and with this title I'm aiming to do all that I can do creatively with it. A few local folks have said things such as "after MGD3 there won't need to be another 4 panel dancing game" and the like, and it's really awesome to hear that kind of enthusiasm and excitement come to life.
As a sidenote, this game will support your custom simfiles in SM and DWI format with MP3 or OGG audio, and the game will come with pre-organized alphabetized user song folders for you to drop them in. It's really easy to create your own folders too, of course.
This will be the final game in the MGD series, and final production to come out of VULPvibe studios for a long time. The occasional add-on pack may be released, but do not by any means expect another full-fledged release.
If I recall correctly, Ty.. there are at least two new Destinations. One being a remix done by someone other than Renard, though the name escapes me right now.
It might be z3ta aspect, but I can't remember exactly.
Regardless, it's an awesome mix.
Renard, I'm disappointed. First Mungyodance I don't have something on. >:P
