SingStar PS2 -> SingStar PS3?

Sony may have announced the best news they've ever come up with today. According to Kotaku, SCEE president David Reeves announced that (at least in europe) SingStar owners will soon be able to transfer the PS2 only tracks from previous SingStar titles onto their PS3 HDD for play in the PS3 versions of the game. A future firmware update will add this capability to all versions of deries on the PS3.
First Rock Band, now SingStar. Could this be a coming trend for rhythm games? Devoted players will buy all of the previous versions of games for the most part, but we all know how much we hate having to switch discs to play one or 2 songs from a previous title. Maybe Konami will latch onto this idea and use it as consideration as to which console they're going to support when they make the jump to next gen. I for one know I'd LOVE to see the ability to load all of the PSX and PS2 pop'n music songs onto an HDD and have the option of playing them on newer engines for the games.
No timeframe has been given regarding when this feature will roll out, but I'm willing to bet that it'll be before christmas. It'd be a great way to get SingStar devotees to make the jump to next gen.
This would be cool not just for the not having to swap out discs, but usually the newer game has a better interface, or faster loading, etc. I like a lot of DDR Universe songs but it's hard to want to pop it in after getting Universe 2...

What y'all aren't realizing is that Konami is incapable of doing anything helpful for their devoted communities of over ten years, where Harmonix has been making music games for much less time and are now offering more support for the community than anyone not called Roxor has ever.

So you're saying Konami will never do anything right ever again?
That makes absolutely no sense.
Quit being such a Rock Band fanboy...
